First off, just wanted to say great job on this site! I'm 3 week's into my first Porsche ever, great to see everybody here!
So I have a few (hopefully not too ignorant) questions maybe you can help me with: So I have a '08 CS w/Tip and have noticed over the last couple of days she's not as "sharp" driving as she used to be. It feels like it takes more for me to accelerate, and even accelerating is not as fast as before.
The only new thing I've done is to use Premium gasoline (I use to get the super super expensive stuff, but was going broke so yesterday got only the super expensive stuff). Ever since then, I've noticed the complaints above. I thought it could be due to the oil, and checked the level for the first time and noticed it's at the last bar (close to empty). But granted I checked it after driving for about 10 minutes, so the engine was warm at the time.
So, my questions are: should I switch back to the really expensive gas (going for 3.75/gallon in Ca), and is it normal for the oil consumption to be super high only after 3 weeks of ownership?
Thanks a million!
You can do further searching on the two topics you mention but in general the response you're going to find is 1) if you use the minimum octane or higher as recommended by Porsche, it should just run fine, and 2) most

get thousands of miles per litre (quart) of oil. Mine for instance has six thousand miles and hasn't used a drop in that period. Like I said, searching will bring a host of information.
It could be that you may just be getting used to the car and all that quickness you felt earlier is "old hat" now.
a few things may be at work here - as far as the gas goes, you should be using the highest octane pump gas available to you - in CA that means 91 octane. the car is optimized for 93 octane, but will run just fine on 91. the computer will adjust for it. if you're using a "medium" grade, then you're probably at 89 octane, and this could be why you're experiencing this. you've bought a high performance sports car, part of that is proper maintenance - and one of those things is putting the right gas in the tank. the oil level has nothing to do with it, and i highly doubt that much oil has been used in just three weeks. CarMax probably delivered the car to you with that amount of oil in it. you need to check the oil first thing in the morning (also recommended in the manual) before starting the car, so that all the oil has gone back down into the sump - this will give you a much more accurate reading. by the way, speaking of oil, if you have it changed at Jiffy Lube, make sure you have them put in

+1
You really want 93 octane.
Note that the required octane is a function of altitude. Here along the Colorado front range and in the mountains, 91 octane is the highest you can find. But that's fine, because the lower air pressure (and Oxygen partial pressure) also helps prevent predetonation (knocking) just like the higher octane levels. It may be that only 91 is available in the Canadian Rockies too. When I drive to lower altitudes, I make sure to fill up with 93.
Use only 91. If you go autocrossing or other fun things you can mix 100 to get 93. But I never put less than 91 and only name brand stations. Its one of the things you have to deal with.
You know, there are numerous threads on this topic already - and dinosaur juice hasn't changed since those threads were live and I'll bet good money that if this thread goes on it will be deja vu all over again......
Damn - I'm sounding like a moderator.
