Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I searched, I promise. I have some 5-40 synthetic Shell Helix Ultra oil left over from my 430 ownership experience. My CS owner's manual says any synthetic "approved by Porsche " is okay to use. The oil filler flap shows the car was filled with Mobil 1 . Does anyone see any problem with using the hell to top up the oil. Among the reasons I ask is that Ferrari, in the event of an engine failure, will analyze the oil. The owner's manual intimates that if non Shell Helix oil was found to have been added, in any amount, the warranty coverage would be in question. Crazy.

POST 2Original post

The Cayman Documents/tech service bulletins section has a list of all approved oils. See http://www.planet-9.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=78 I might have missed it but don't see Shell oil there.

POST 5Original post

yes , Shell Helix is an approved oil . by the way scotty , i am so jealous it is sickening ! the 430 has to be my favorite car of all time .

POST 7Original post

There is no argument that the safest route is to not mix. I have heard passionate defenses of both sides of this. I may try to see what Porsche says.

POST 8Original post

Is the effort even worth it just to use up a quart of oil sitting around? Mobil1 is only going to be a couple of bucks for that top up quart. Then you have 100% peace of mind.

POST 9Original post

Think the argument has always been not to mix different types of oil, so a mineral with a synthetic or a semi with a full synthetic. Guess there shouldn't be a problem putting 2 fully synthetic oils together (M1 is 0/40 so slightly different viscosity). Having said that I would try to keep it all single source, no real reason why though.
