I pulled the car in the garage, got out (engine still running), and pushed the pedal in and out with my hand so I could listen more closely.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Today, just out of the blue, while driving back from work, I noticed that my the clutch pedal was making a weird noise. It was almost like I could hear fluid moving as I was letting the clutch back out. I had not ever heard this before on my CS (or any other manual trans car), so I kept pushing the pedal in and out and each time I could definitely hear it. This is not the normal click - that happens of course, but after pressing the clutch pedal in, when I bring it up (slow or fast, in gear or neutral) it made the same sound - just like fluid moving around near the pedal. What can this be? I pulled the car in the garage, got out (engine still running), and pushed the pedal in and out with my hand so I could listen more closely. Same thing. Weird! Any ideas?

POST 2Original post

The clutch mechanism is all hydraulic - the fluid is shared with your brakes so perhaps something is going on there. Air in the system? Check the fluid level first.

POST 3Original post

Yes, I knew that and checked the fluid level and it was fine. I'll go take it out today and see if it happens again. If so, off to the dealer...
