Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After 4+ years the 996 C2 is on its way to a new home px for a 997 Gen 2 C2 PDK from OPC East London. I have had a lot of enjoyment and fun from the car over the time. A big thank you to all on this forum who have offered help and advice over the years, especially Richard on the occasionally snurglie. Au revoir as I drift over to the 997 forum.

POST 2Original post

Photos, we need photos. Not sure if they'll be here or in 997 land but we need photos!

Are you changing after reading the bad news article in January PP? R11 had a technical session which basically said don't buy a 996 or 997 Gen 1 [ ]

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No is the straightforward answer. It is purely through time of ownership (4+ years), age (11 yrs) and mileage (79K) of car. Having said that I was wary of a Gen 1 997 but it was all that was in my budget. Fortunately I found a sensibly priced 58 plate Gen 2 and as it was December and end of year sales figures looming was able to cut a deal with the OPC that suited my budget. So far the car has proved all I expected of it apart from picking up a massive stone chip and crack on the way home from collection in London which necessitates a windscreen change at OPC Exeter (insurance less £75 excess) - c'est la vie & happy days.
