This has been known to happen quite a bit on Honda S2000's in the UK and US, except they use black stoppers.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 2Original post

Plastic. Wait..no...rubber! Where'd you get them from? My guess is shipping blocks on the suspension.

POST 4Original post

No, they were not removed by the dealer. Should they have been?

POST 5Original post

Either that or Leg Warmers are now made in plastic!

POST 6Original post

Might wanna put them back. I heard they add 10 whp, but your dealer doesn't want you to know that.

POST 7Original post

If they came from your car, they look like suspension "stoppers" to keep the car from bouncing around. Did you have a stiff ride?

POST 10Original post

This isn't the first time I've heard of someone taking delivery of a Cayman with the shipping blocks still attached. In the case I heard about, the new owner didn't get far before he turned around and took the car back to the dealer complaining of poor handling.

POST 11Original post

Well, since they're pink I'd guess they are indeed temporary!

POST 12Original post

These actually were not in my Porsche, they were in a friends Porsche. He took delivery a few weeks ago. Last night he found them in his springs while tinkering with his wheels. He asked me if I knew what they were. I cant believe they let him drive off with these.

POST 13Original post

Ahh..so these could have been prototype PASM units. Bargain basement option.

POST 14Original post

I can't believe he hadn't noticed something wrong with the handling. Okay, everyone who's been disappointed with the handling go out and check your springs.

POST 15Original post

This has been known to happen quite a bit on Honda S2000's in the UK and US, except they use black stoppers. Useless dealers, clearly what else did they fail to check before handing over the car to the punter!

POST 17Original post

Whoever prepared that car for delivery (if anyone?) must have been very color blind to miss those dayglo pinks.

POST 18Original post

It happens all the time, they just forget its there. I know some cars place a sticker on the drivers window..they figured..if you're pulling the sticker off and it says "Warning: Do Not Drive Over 10 mph with shipping blocks" or something to that effect, they would remember to pull them out...nope they just peel the sticker. Funniest story... I once heard this guy who went for a test drive. The car handled terribly..and the sticker about the shipping blocks were still on the windshield. He pulled back to the dealership and showed the salesman the blocks. The reply? "Those are installed to help the handling, its really amazing, it gets stiffer and sportier with those in. But we can take those out at delivery if you want."

POST 19Original post

When my buddy told his dealer about this they were real nonchallant about it, which means that either it happens all the time or they are just good at reacting to stuff like this (again suggests that things like this happen a lot). These things can cause all sorts of bad things to happen. They could damage the boots on the struts, they could fall out and damage a wheel or the body as they are run over and flung up. If one shock is locked and another wiggles loose, it could cause a spin or total loss of control in a turn. Thank god nothing bad happened in my friend's case. He was jacking up his car to empty his tires so he could fill them with nitrogen. That's when he spotted these bright pink parts.
