Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Do wheel spacers degrade components or alter driving characteristics?

POST 3Original post

Porsche offered 15mm wheel spacers as an option for the 986 & 996.

POST 4Original post

Crappy non hub centric spacers can. Not so much in the rear but spacers can introduce some wheel vibrations if you get cheap ones.

POST 5Original post

If you do something whack-a-doodle and go with HUGE spacers, you can cause additional wheel bearing wear. But with normal offsets, you should see no adverse effects. -Tom

Anytime you start any car and drive it, parts degrade. I have run 7, 12, 15 mm spacers depending on tires on the street and track for nearly 2 decades on my 996. All good. You may feel a bit more stability from the wheelbase being wider using 15mm spacers as an example. You will certainly notice the car looks better. Just make sure you aren't running cheap aftermarket lug nuts or wheel studs to fit the spacers. Safety first.

POST 7Original post

I have 10mm all the way around my cabriolet. The only regret is to not go 14mm on the rear.

Didnt know that! Does anyone know the Porsche part numbers for the 15mm spacers and corresponding lug bolts?

i have 15mm hubcentric spacers and extended lugs on all 4 corners of my C4S. I believe they are H&R. Tried an off brand set on my e30 many years ago, they were supposedly hubcentric but the front end shook really bad. Get a reputable brand!

https://www.sunsetporscheparts.com/o...er-99636161700 I was incorrect on the width, they are 17mm and come with studs. Wheel nut P/N is 999 182 003 36. Kits are available as well, consists of 2 spacers and 10 wheel nuts: https://www.getporschesilverspringpa...spacer-4450010
