Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2007 CS and am convinced the
homelink
transmitter is not working. Can’t get the lights to flash and have tried everything. Want to replace module but don’t know where it is located. Any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks
As a point of information, I was just recently educated regarding my 2008
Cayman
and the latest garage door opener technology. Apparently somewhere around 2011 or so door opener manufacturers changed some security technology and my car at least, is no longer comparable. Never had a problem until last week when I had to have a new garage door opener installed and couldn't get my 2008 to recognize it. After lots of research I found the reason, and that was that older cars are no longer compatible. There is a solution to buy an additional conversion unit for another $30 or so but I decided to just carry the hand remote in the car instead. Bottom line is if your opener is new and car is old the likelihood of it working together is zilch without the additional unit. Lift Master opener sight has info.
I discovered the same thing after a new door opener with my '08 and now just carry the hand remote in my
Cayman
like you. It was so frustrating trying to program and I tried everything over and over using the manual and
Homelink
instructions. Nothing worked. The result of all of that was having to reprogram my other two cars which were newer and fortunately they did work with the
homelink
system.
It's a 2 step process. You have to get the car to learn the remote, and then the opener to learn the car. Going from memory - car has to be on or running, clear the car by pressing the 2 outside buttons. Put it in learn mode by pressing and holding the
homelink
button until the lights flash at the right rate. Go in front of the car and press the remote button until the parking lights flash.
Go in the garage and put your garage door opener in learn mode. If you're alone - run like hell to get back to the car and press the
homelink
button. Or - yell at your idiot friend to put his phone down and press the damn button!
Still won't work. I can assure you that was already done many, many times. There is a compatibility issue with the newer openers and older cars. It's a fact. Feel free to look it up.
I just built a new house and have had no success in getting the
Homelink
in my '06
Boxster
to work with the new garage door openers as well so I think Budman is correct.
Thanks to everyone who responded. Now I am thinking my opener is too new and I need the repeater. Ordered on
Amazon
, will report back with my findings. Can always return it... Pretty sure it's going to work.
Received the
homelink
bridge. Took all of 60 seconds to program the remote to car, then car to opener. Can't believe I spent hours trying to make this thing work! Should have asked here first... Thanks all!
Can you provide a link to what you ordered? If not real expensive I may go with it. It could help me to get rid of all the extra weight of the hand held remote I now have in the car ;-)
The
Homelink
Bridge works pretty well, but it is not as good as updating the
Homelink
module behind the front bumper to the newer part number. I have tried both options. The newer part number is 8K0907410C. It is a VW
Audi
Porsche
part and there are many on ebay. Mine came out of a wrecked 2015
Panamera
and works great in my 06
Cayman
. It is a
plug
and play swap, but you have to take the front bumper off which isn’t that difficult if you enjoy wrenching.
I found that the newer module provides a significantly improved range and is much more reliable compared to the old module and
Homelink
Bridge.

To you guys who have the repeater working...
I'm at my wits' end trying to program this thing. I've followed the manual and Youtube videos to no avail. I actually have two brand new repeaters because I thought the first was faulty. Over the course of trying to figure the thing out, I think I somehow programmed both 855LM's (bridge remote) to my garage opener. Is that even possible?! If I press the remotes within ~2' of the opener antenna, I can open and close the garage door without the repeaters even plugged in!
Can one of you see if your 855LM can do the same?
As far as progress, I've gotten the car to accept the remote code. I have the
LED
spars, so I can't see the fog light confirmation, but my
Homelink
buttons flash as if the code has taken. After that, I
plug
in the Repeater right
next
to the opener, press the Learn button, and run for the
HomeLink
button. But it never works. I programmed all 3 buttons just to be sure.
Note: I did contact Liftmaster/Chamberlain support but they gave me the old buy-from-us-because-we-can't-trust-other-sellers'-items.
