Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hi there, does the 996 sat nav from porsche comes with country specific sat nav ? ie, buying a left hand drive from germany means we have to update the maps for good ol england ? how do we update the maps by the way ? go to opc and buy a new cd-dvd or how do we proceed ?

POST 2Original post

See if the place you buy the car from will supply a disc with the specific country you need on it. Best thing to do is buy a TomTom unit that you can swap from car to car and much cheaper. Porsche may not support the older sat nav units / software anymore. Cheers,

POST 3Original post

It depends on what version of PCM you have, as to what maps and disk formats are available. The Porsche/Navteq maps are usually supplied as a complete set for Europe. What version you have determines how up to date, and what format, they are. Can you be a bit more specific? The model year of the car would help.

POST 4Original post

http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=349812 may answer some of your questions.. but as Richard points out depends on your MY The PCM1 disc was just the one, that or I was robbed, PCM2 discs came as a set of three (if I remember correctly) and covered the majority of old Europe garyw

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
