Also added a BOSS 8" sub behind the drivers seat, and replaced the blown door speakers with Alpine 6.5" and will replace the corner dash speakers with new Memphis audio tweeters when they arrive.

I ended up replacing the head unit with a BOSS Elite series Touchscreen with Bluetooth and CD/DVD, 320watts internal amp.

I'm replacing the head unit and wanted to look for the amp and see if it was possible to upgrade in the same spot.

Is it possible that my base 2007 Cayman has no factory amp? I'm replacing the head unit and wanted to look for the amp and see if it was possible to upgrade in the same spot. I looked under the passenger seat, nothing there. I tore the whole front trunk apart, nothing there. there is a bracket looking thing where the tool kit is hidden behind that panel but there is nothing on it. This is a base model and the head unit was a CDR24. Help!

I don't know about the 987.1, but a base 987.2 with CDR30 and no SPP doesn't have a separate amp.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up replacing the head unit with a BOSS Elite series Touchscreen with Bluetooth and CD/DVD, 320watts internal amp. Also added a BOSS 8" sub behind the drivers seat, and replaced the blown door speakers with Alpine 6.5" and will replace the corner dash speakers with new Memphis audio tweeters when they arrive. Sounds great now and the sub added some much needed bass to the system.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
