My
battery
recently died (key in ignition and front hood unlatched). When the
battery
was recharged, I followed the instructions to reset the "Storing end position of the window" (page 27 of the Owner's Manual). Cannot get it to work. I'm not sure if I'm getting it right. I've tried it several times by disconnecting the
battery
, but get the same results over and over again.
- Close the window once (I hold the rocker switch in the up position until the window is fully closed)
- Press front half of rocker switch again to store the end position... (I lift the rocket switch again)
The glass will lower when the door handle is pulled, but will no raise again. When I leave my car, the driver's window is now partially lowered. Can somebody give me a hand. Thanks.....
Start by setting the "bottom" position first: Get in, close the door, turn the ignition on (car doesn't have to be running, but it won't hurt either). Then hold the button down until the window goes all the way down. Release and press it down one more time. Then, hold the button up until the window is all the way up, and then press it up one more time. That should do it.
The window controller stores settings for both all-the-way-up and all-the-way-down. You need to program both settings for the window to work correctly.
Good luck!
So did this cure the problem with the window. I have the same issue with my
Boxster
. I'll try this procedure tomorrow. I tried it from the manual but there are few extras listed here.
Thanks.
Tried this today... still not operating properly. one touch goes down on drivers side but not up. plus it does not raise that extra inch when closing the door.
Was this ever resolved? I have the same issue since the
battery
died and everything I have tried has not worked and it's driving me insane every time I go anywhere and have to faff with the windows.
Try these two procedures:
Reset the One-Touch Window Switch
After replacing the battery, you must RESET the One-Touch window switches.
Here's how to do that.
1. Press the window switch down to lower the window all the way down.
2. Release the window switch.
3. Lift the window switch up to raise the window all the way up.
4. Release the window switch.
5. Lift the window switch UP AGAIN (the window is already up) and release.
This process is the same for all modern Porsches.
Storing end position of the windows after connecting the vehicle battery
(from the manual)
The end positions of the windows are lost when the battery is disconnected and reconnected. One-touch operation of the windows is disabled.
Perform these steps for all windows:
1. Close window completely once by pulling the rocker switch.
2. When the window is completely closed, briefly pull the rocker switch again
three times
.
3. Open the window completely once by pressing the rocker switch.
Good luck.
Tried both methods just now and neither are working...
What's been said is what I see in the manual as well. That being said, some other car brands require you to hold the up or down button (while the window has reached the limit) for 2-5 seconds after it stops.
Also, just to be sure, maybe the car has to be on/running for this to work? Maybe it doesn't work in ACC mode?
I don't know if you want to try this, but...
You could disconnect the
battery
in order to reset the electronics.
Record your radio stations and other settings for reprogramming.
I just had this same thing happen to me... the car was at the dealership for a state inspection so I had them look into it... diagnosed as a faulty window motor control module. Have to replace the window motor. They wanted $1,600 to fix it. I picked up a used motor off of ebay for $40 and will attempt to replace it myself. I'll report back when I get around to installing it.
I ended up getting second hand window motor control modules from eBay and this fixed the issue. I did not fix them myself however, I left that to a
Porsche
specialist. £570 in the end to fix including the parts. Apparently the issue occurred from letting the
battery
get too flat over and over again during the winter months when not driving it... Moral of the story, get a new
battery
and keep it topped up properly, it's a much cheaper alternative to new window motor control modules!
