Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that contain suggestions
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
Check the cap to be sure that it is tight and look at the overflow trough around it for evidence of crusty pink dried antifreeze.
Leading evidence: 'Check cap' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check cap' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

Suggestion
Typically the level should be near the "min" mark when the engine is cold and just below the "max" when hot if filled correctly.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Greetings all...after much saving and drama, I finally got my 2010 C4S and just drove it 500 miles home and when I arrived, I went into the house and got the wife to show her the car and found a drip coming from somewhere behind the left rear tire...please see the attached pic...of course, I can't bend well enough to see where it's coming from...does anyone have any ideas? I am not familiar with the new cars ( just wanna drive it) and thought they weren't supposed to leak oil...I'm not sure if it's oil or not, it's definitely not water.
I would appreciate any advice...and please be nice, I'm a newbie
thanks for your help!
Thanks, I was afraid of that...the leak has gotten bigger and the color appears to be red/pink, but I can't tell from nosing around where it is coming from
Sounds like coolant. The reservoir tank is on that side of the car. They do crack and need replacing. Check your coolant levels and make sure it doesn't go low. Use Porsche coolant mixed 50/50 with distilled water. This needs to be fixed.
As Tony pointed out the tanks do crack from age/heat exposure.
Poor thing lives above the left muffler.
In addition the tank cap has the pressure relief in it. The valve can fail. Check the cap to be sure that it is tight and look at the overflow trough around it for evidence of crusty pink dried antifreeze.
Someone could have overfilled the tank before you picked it up. Typically the level should be near the "min" mark when the engine is cold and just below the "max" when hot if filled correctly.
Here is one of many threads/videos etc... addressing replacement.

thanks so much for the suggestions...I went by the dealership and they put it up on the lift and apparently it was over-filled, because the "leak" was coming from the overflow tube...the techs let the car cool a bit and then removed some coolant, so we'll see if that worked...I'm so glad nothing has cracked yet and I really appreciate all your suggestions
take care
unfortunately when we got the coolant to the appropriate level, coolant was still leaking around the cap...I got a replacement cap and have had no problems since...thanks to FPB111 or I would have never thought the cap could go bad...thanks for asking!
Here's the problem:
1999 996 C2 Cab
Driving Coolant light flashing Temp stable.
Driver behind me pointing to ground, leak present.
Got the car home.
Could see where coolant splashed under the car. not leaking anymore.
Seemed to happen when I had the car at 2600RPM, which is my cruising RPM on the highway.
Refilled tank - let idle for 1 hour. No leak.
Durametric shows codes 1124 and 1126 and 1602, which I already know need to be repaired.
Any assistance would be greatfully appreciated.
