I changed my motor mounts when I did the coolant tank - enabled me to lower the engine a bit more.

It may be necessary to drop your coolant and disconnect the hoses to give you more engine lowering distance.

I have already drained a large part of the liquid because I am changing the water pump at the same time.

You have to use a jack under the engine (in the correct location) and then, yes, you completely remove the nuts from the motor mounts and then lower the engine until it rests on the crossmember under the transaxle.

Loosen the 02 sensor wiring from the holders and drop the engine all the way down to rest on the cross-member, then take your foot and push the engine over to the passenger side( US cars) about an inch or so ( or use a ratchet strap)...and remove the coolant tank...15 min job...
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Guys,
I'm trying to change myself the expansion tank but... After looking a lot of video it's impossible to get out...
I managed to remove it completely from its housing and gained a little space by removing the nut from I think the injection in front.
Any tips ?
it's as if the engine doesn't go down a few centimeters enough...
Did you lower the engine to the lowest point on the motor mounts? That will give you some additional clearance. I had to disconnect the fuel line when I did mine.
When lowering the engine, keep an eye on your coolant inlet/return hoses for stress. It may be necessary to drop your coolant and disconnect the hoses to give you more engine lowering distance.
Do you have a picture of this inlet/return hose ? I have already drained a large part of the liquid because I am changing the water pump at the same time.
I managed to lower the engine to the end of the screws. no more. Until the end of the screw is in the support in the photo.
Like you can see in the picture, I can't go more than the end of this screw in red. Just disappear inside the engine support.
The hoses are the two large ones connected on either side of the engine, one conects to the thermostat housing on the RH side and the other one coming out of the block on the LH side. These are the main inlet/outlet hoses for the cooling system.
If you are planning to do your water pump you will need to remove your engine mounts anyways so you can unbolt the front cross member from the engine and move it away to access the pump. Unbolt the mounts and pull them up & out of position. Have a good look at your mounts if they are not recent for wear, leaking, etc. It is a good time to change them if needed.
I changed my motor mounts when I did the coolant tank - enabled me to lower the engine a bit more. It wasn't easy to come out either. I was at it for a while and then found the sweet spot and it just came out. I can't describe to you the sweet spot - I just kept moving it and pulling it. Wasn't even that hard to come out once I found the sweet spot.

I think I have to lower it to the maximum, because even if I release it completely, it does not go down anymore. Maybe since I have an automatic transmission, it blocks because of it.
It's done
Finally it's easy but we need to ;
Unplug the most of the cable as possible, coolant, fuel and push to the right.
Unscrew the fuel folden cap in the front.
Low the engine to the maximum.
After that you can push the tank to the right and push it to the bottom.
You have access to the black support on the top. Unsrcew it and keep it away.
Now the tank come easily.
Put the new one.
On right to bottom.
Put back the black support.
etc...
Thank for your help guys
