Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

We did a Cayman install last week, and placed the Gateway box up under the pull panel above the passenger footwell, ran all the wiring from the head unit and back to the glove box, and mounted the clip on the 'roof' of the glove box.

Also what about the reset switch (needs to be toggled in order to get the config menu) and the service switch (to disable unit prior to dealer servicing), are they both user accessible in that installation?

Thanks… I didn’t want it in the cabin as there is NO need too touch your iPod other than on occasion sync it with your iTunes, in less your planning on using the video function that can’t be executed through the PCM screen.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Another Dension Gateway 500 Installation…
Here’s a few pic’s of my installation of the long awaited Dension Gateway 500 system for integration of the ipod to our Cayman’s. They maybe helpful to a few. This was a very doable installation to achieve, right up there with screwing in a light bulb… well almost. Most of time of installation was spent looking for my misplaced / lost test lamp. In the future I may relocate the AUX Box to the glove compartment if it becomes functionally necessary for a satellite radio or video.
Hats off to BumperPlugs on their getting this Group Buy accomplished, thanks.

Awesome! I can't wait to get my unit in! PCM should be coming this evening in the mail and Eric told me my Dension will at my door in about two weeks (I was in the group buy but paid rather late, since I didn't know what was going on with my Cayman). I also have a sirius satellite radio w\ free 6 month service card that was given to me as a gift this Christmas that I plan on putting in the car when I get the Dension in. - Suneet
Looks fabulous! I just received my new 5.5G 80GB iPOD and have loaded her up. My Dension should also be arriving in about two weeks. Now all I need is my Cayman!
Did you consider installing the iPOD in the glovebox or center console? I'd like to place my iPOD in one of those two locations along with the AUX box.
While I will have a local audio shop do the install, more details on your installation would be most appreciated (no pun intended). I'll feel even more comfortable if I can provide them with install info along with the kit.
How are you finding the Dension UI and sound quality?
I'd love to see some pictures of what it takes to remove the console and route the wires. I saw a picture of the ipod connector installed in the back of the console and it looked great.
I had planed on submitting an article on this installation but browncf has already posted an article on same. Good job browncf.
Thanks. I’ll give it a try later in the day, time permitting.
Thanks SF, actually their in concert with one another.
Thanks… I didn’t want it in the cabin as there is NO need too touch your iPod other than on occasion sync it with your iTunes, in less your planning on using the video function that can’t be executed through the PCM screen. I've only been listening to Pod-Cast's so far as I just finished the install, which sounded great. I'll update later today.
Who did I miss?.. Thanks.

I was just told that the Dension 500 units are not for sale in the US which means that they are not warrantied/etc. This doesn't ring true ... anyone know otherwise?
Just told by whom?
Did you contact site sponsor Bumperplugs.com who has been running the group buy? That's where virtually everyone has been getting these units.
The headunit comes out in about 30 minutes, and center console in about an hour, it wouldn't be very difficult at all to route the ipod cable into the glove box or back console. I plan on placing the "aux-box" behind the headunit, and have not decided whether to put the ipod cable in the glove box or center console. - Suneet
I think what I was told was a croc of bull. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that their information was dated (i.e. there was a german version of the product that was not for sale in the US, but that isn't what the bumperplugs.com buy was).
Does anyone have any pics of a glove box install? I figure this is what I'd most likely do.
I've been toying with doing away with the iPod and just using an 8gb SD card (~$55). While an iPod seems like a nice toy, I prefer loading up my music without having to go through iTunes/etc. I haven't read any reviews from people who have tried this yet though...
We did a Cayman install last week, and placed the Gateway box up under the pull panel above the passenger footwell, ran all the wiring from the head unit and back to the glove box, and mounted the clip on the 'roof' of the glove box. iPod is safe and secure there, and when glove box is opened it is accessible. Was a really slick job, and invisible after the fact.
Eric that install sounds sweet, I'm going to be doing pretty much the same thing, though I might put the ipod cable in the center console instead. Thanks for shipping my unit out so fast, it's coming a week sooner than I expected because of my late order.
Thanks,
Suneet
Eric,
With that install configuration, is the USB port still accessible in order to plug in USB memory sticks and the like? Also what about the reset switch (needs to be toggled in order to get the config menu) and the service switch (to disable unit prior to dealer servicing), are they both user accessible in that installation?
