Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

They're placing it in the shelf below the radio and actually molding plastic around it to fill the void and then spray painting it to match the interior color.
Leading evidence: 'Install once my new cs arrives next week' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Fill void' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. 1) Use the aux input on the Dension, 2) Navtv makes an interface just for Sirius, it interfaces with PCM as a cd changer but lists categories as cd's and tracks as stations (when you view the lists), has a receiver, antenna, everything and goes on ebay for about $600.

I guess I will be using the RF modulator system when I get my CS.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I understand Porsche announced that it will be offering XM radio as an option. I think starting 2007. I called my local dealer service department and they acted like it was news to them. I know I can install the Cayenne satellite kit into my PCM equipmed Cayman, but if Porsche is going to offer this as an option I'm guessing they have kits.
Any spoken to a dealer about this? I want Sirius, but I'm guessing that's the least of my worries. Can't believe they went with XM since pretty much all the other auto companies are going Sirius.
I'm having the XM Commander installed once my new CS arrives next week. The installer is reputable, my dealer uses them for all the installs. Radio and install $482. They're placing it in the shelf below the radio and actually molding plastic around it to fill the void and then spray painting it to match the interior color. My concern is it sounds like XM and Sirius are going to merge, with Sirius being the leader, what happens to all the receivers out there in XM!
Who leads
Actually XM is the leader (as of 3rd quarter 2006) but Sirius is currently growing faster. Merger just makes sense (although it is likely not going to be good for the cost which I predict will go up if there's no competition).
From Forbes:
XMCommander. Works Great ... but I think $482 sounds high. I paid about $300 installed. Must be a regional thing
XM will not go away. XM will eat up Sirius. Sirius has no catastrophic failure backup for its satellites. XM does (last time I read up on this). Besides, we do NOT want them to merge ... Competition improves the breed.
I really do think that XM and Sirius will eventually merge, however, they are not technically compatible today so I assume they would operate both systems for some time.
We have one car with Sirius, XM for portables and other vehicles. They both work well and the programming is not very different, but there is some so it's a matter of personal preference.
Its not RF ... its hardwired into the FM antenna
In other words, when set to a FM frequency, it simply overwhelms anything else. It is NOT broadcasting over the air.
I have Sirius units in all my cars and would like to put it in my Cayman. They have audio output jacks. Does the radio have any audio inputs to connect to the satellite radio? The FM RF transmission method is quite poor.
Jeff
astrojeff,
A quick search of the forum will turn up your answer and that is that there are no aux inputs to the radio. The only integrated satellite option is the one from Porsche and it requires PCM and the tuner is $1000!
You have options?
Busaganashi,
You can purchase the Cayenne Sirius or XM kit to install in your car. This will allow you install with a factory integrated option and have either of the services you desire. Do a search on ******** and you can find the part numbers and pricing. I priced it and the parts cost approximately $1000. I can do the install myself but the dealer estimates 5-6 hours for them to install. There is also a technical article on how to install it your self on the site.
There are two other options as well. 1) Use the aux input on the Dension, 2) Navtv makes an interface just for Sirius, it interfaces with PCM as a cd changer but lists categories as cd's and tracks as stations (when you view the lists), has a receiver, antenna, everything and goes on ebay for about $600. Works on 997's, Caymans, etc.
