This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I just realized that there is no way to open the front hood if the front battery is disconnected and you actually close the front hood... and i'm happen to be lucky coz my friend used a long thin rod and connect the battery from the small gap...

POST 2Original post

Did you try the jumper post at the fuse box like the owners manual says?

POST 5Original post

Doesn't the battery actually have to be connected to use the jumper posts? Or is there a power bus that you can energize from the jumper posts, with or without the battery being part of the circuit...Normally, if your battery was just dead, it would still be wired in.

POST 6Original post

Just as long as the positive terminal is not touching metal it should be OK. There is only one positive terminal and even if the jump terminal went straight to the terminal it would be connected to the electrical system.

POST 7Original post

The battery should not need to be connected for that to work, as long as you have a good connection and an adequate power source. I suspect you had a bad connection while ececuting the jumper routine.

POST 8Original post

Agreee w/ Gator Bite. I did this in my Boxster S, and took a cig lighter accessory cord, hooked to a 12v battery plugged into the lighter outlet -- worked like a charm. In my case, I drove the Boxster S from Tucson to Huntington Beach and found it was too weak to turn over the next day. Not wanting to have to pay the core charge, I pulled the dead battery out to take with me to Newport Porsche, then locked the car up while making my purchase. Imagine my (nasty) surprise upon my return, not able to open the front compartment to install it! A quick call to Porsche roadside assistance resulted in the above solution, successfully, of course.
