Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Use options' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Reset button' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I've even pressed the reset button on that attached module with the switch in question.

Run the config with 1.0 and then you can update and it holds your configuration through the update.

Right now I'm simply stuck on the factory setting because it won't go into config mode.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I installed my Dension 500 gateway today and it works, but we could never get the config screen to show up (up and down 6 times on the switch). So for example when I would select CD 6, I could see things like Podcasts but couldn't select it. I need some assistance with user testing, config, etc. for an article I am working on. Anyone care to help?
Hmm... you go up and down a total of 3 times and make sure you end the sequence on the filled in dot...3 movements down, 3 movements up. Make sure there's no other cd in the drive, and why not take the ipod out as well. You know you'll be there when it goes to cd6 and shows CDEFG.
Also, before configuration, you should still be able to go into podcasts and such by going to track list, selecting podcasts or playlists and just letting it sit there until it loads (kind of like you select a song in there, scroll to it and let it stay for a few seconds). Or you can hold the >> button for more than 3 seconds, because the Fastforward command selects in the Dension.
Once you turn toggle on in the config you can click the toggle knob to make selections on the Dension.

Ok I will give that a try, I could have sworn we did that toggling as you described though both with and without the ipod. Will try again though. So which one should I choose between CDEFG? It was unclear to me which one is the best solution. I will also try waiting long on things like [podcasts] etc. to see if it actually selects it by waiting.
when it shows CDEFG, you hit track forward until it goes to paging, hold >>> for 3 seconds, then do the switch selection again (back + forth 3 times), go track forward to cache, hold >> for 3 seconds, then do the switch selection again, go track forward to toggle, hold >> for 3 seconds.
The fast forward command (holding >> for 3 seconds) is actually what selects each options. The rewind command deselects options. But Text is aready set up on the PCM so you don't have to worry about that option.

Suneet - is there a typo in your post above? The sequence you sent me previously was: paging, cache, toggle. Post above states paging, paging, toggle. I imagine the second paging should be cache.
Suneet,
I've tried the 3 up and 3 down method in every conceivable combination and it still never goes into config mode. I've even pressed the reset button on that attached module with the switch in question. When I disconnect the iPOD it simply shows CD6 AUX and starts counting up seconds for track 1 of AUX, but never changes from AUX to CDEFG or anything else.
?????
BTW, assuming I ever get it to work, which option do you guys use? Which do you like best? Right now I'm simply stuck on the factory setting because it won't go into config mode.
Kman, when you first plug in your ipod\turn on your car does it show version 1.0? Version 1.04 has an issue where it won't go into config mode...
Also, I was having the same issue but realized I just wasn't moving down and up fast enough. You have to do it in rapid succession. The manual says if your unit doesn't go into configuration mode, you should keep doing it until it shows up; but this didn't really work for me.
I use all options on, paging, cache, and toggle. I found that even without any set up the Dension paged my playlists and worked fairly well. But with cache and toggle on it's a bit faster and easier to navigate.
Ok so all 3 can be turned on together, that is good to know. NOt sure why that isn't the default. My unit came shipped with ROM 1.04, I updated it to the beta 1.05, maybe 1.05 won't go into Config mode either. Is it possible to step down say back to 1.0 or something?
Kman Yes it's possible to go back to 1.0, I think that is the issue you're having. Run the config with 1.0 and then you can update and it holds your configuration through the update.
