The thoughts of getting the gearbox sorted and going back for another 111-point check for the warranty and then forking out for the warranty makes me cringe.

That's ridiculous, but then OPCs don't know how to repair anything these days - just bolt a new one on.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Hi All,
Car went into OPC on saturday for 60k service and 111p inspection. Was Called today and informed the following:
-Found a slight leak from the back of gearbox. Leaking coming from the gasket, out of the housing. There is a slight leak here and the actual leak is from the gearbox.
I have been informed that they cannot source the "gasket" (or something similar) on its own and it comes with the gearbox and thus will require a full gearbox changed.
I asked him specifically if he was referring to RMS leak, and he clearly said no.
Im waiting another callback from OPC for the latest on this.
- Any thoughts on this please? Has anyone come across the before?
if they quote you 22 quid to replace the gearbox have it done.. but if its anymore forget and wait for complete gearbox failure to replace it.
Bet you`ll do about 20k before you have any issues!
That's ridiculous, but then OPCs don't know how to repair anything these days - just bolt a new one on. Especially with a Porsche because we are all of course millionaires and will happily hand over our Platinum cards every time they tell us we need something
It is a tippy so it could become interesting.
If the car was having a 111 pc does that mean it is already in waranty or are you having one put on?
Get them to email you exactly what the issue is an then forward that to a good Indy for their opinion.
If the gasket comes with the new gearbox, then the gasket must be available. Now you just need to find where from.
At the end of the day, if they won`t renew the warranty without having the gearbox done, I`d take it to an indy to have it fixed and then go back for the warranty...... robbing B******s !
Thought Id wait before posting with an update...
Porsche UK said she wouldn't be playing any part in providing a goodwill gesture towards the tippy gearbox or labour. I Picked up my car finally on saturday and will get the gearbox issue looked at JZM or another specialist.
Have to say, even with the gearbox issue put aside, the service recieved was an absolute joke, for those who are curious here a breif summary.
-Picked up car on saturday after waiting 45mins while they sorted courtesy car out as it "unexpectly required geo" to be sorted out.
- called OPC 20mins later (couldn't find pcm cd). message left. never returned called.
- Chased up OPC on Monday to find out the status of the car and when i could pick it up (day the car should come out).
Called around 4.30ish, informed of this "gearbox issue". Informed would update me on tuesday.
- Again chased up on tuesday as no-one had called.
Got the call on wednesday getting update as above.
- Message left on thursday for call back- never returned.
Called on saturday to pickup car. 3 calls later, updated the car is ready but they are "sorting out" the paperwork.
-Went to pick up car, waited 35 mins while the car was "prepared" for me to take.
IMO, this "experiance" really is a joke. The thoughts of getting the gearbox sorted and going back for another 111-point check for the warranty and then forking out for the warranty makes me cringe.
Can someone please tell me this is a one-off?
- How is it that OPC can get away with such shoddy service. Makes me really wonder about the quality of workmanship carried out.
Rant done... sorry for going on!
- Looking forward to Topgear now!
You'll find that no OPC and few indies will touch gearboxes. They prefer to treat them as a black-box. While I sympathise that specialist knowledge and equipment is required, I do wish they wouldn't give the same old spiel that "it's
very
rare to have any problems with a Tiptronic sir". Why not just a) admit they don't have the tools or the knowledge to do the job and b) find out who does.
I have a problem with my Tiptronic and only La Rose Porsche have shown any interest in working with me to resolve it. Between them and a local transmission specialist I hope to make some progress.
