That said, for me even stepping from a 944Turbo I find it scarily fast, but now you mention it when I used the boost function it was before I changed the throttle body, and since the change the car does seem quicker smoother and more economical.

Well we did the boost test today, just got a flash of 0.8 before hooking 3rd and definitely makes at least 0.7 bar in fourth before stamping on the brakes because the horizon is about to dissapear out of the back window, with revs left

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Have bought an immaculate 2005 996 TS with only 20.000 miles. Car looks smells and feels new. Problem is that it doesnt pass 0,7 bar of boost. Car is 100% stock apart from a Ruf exhaust. Nothing else Any ideas as to what could be causing the low boost issue ?

POST 3Original post

I have a std 420 hp 996tt with tubi exhaust and I have never seen the boost gauge go past 0.5 so 0.7 on the S seems reasonable. Does it feel down on power? I could easily lose my license in 3rd gear and fourth was 123 at 0.5 at Bedford and bloody quick at that.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I ve driven doxens of 996 TTs stock, turbo S and modded. Car seems slowish compared to other stock ones i drove in the past. If there was a problem with the lambda then i would have a check emgine light on. Any others maybe ?

POST 5Original post

Whilst that may be true of a lambda sensor, there are many other sensors that DO NOT trigger the CEL (on a UK car), but will store a fault in the fault register. These sensors include MAF, Air intake temperature, throttle potentiometer, and many others. Start by getting a diagnostic check done, to see if there are any faults recorded.

POST 6Original post

I also have a standard car with tubi, and seeing 0.6-0.7 is no problem (and quite normal ), so don't know why you're only getting 0.5. Only problem I have now is that after picking it up from a service yesterday, I saw as much as 1.4! So it went straight back for a check. An S should be seeing 0.8-0.9 max.

POST 7Original post

Mine may well reach 0.7 but I seldom have obc in "boost" function. I will have to try it out in second gear so that I have more time to study it. That said, for me even stepping from a 944Turbo I find it scarily fast, but now you mention it when I used the boost function it was before I changed the throttle body, and since the change the car does seem quicker smoother and more economical. I got 24.5 mpg on a round trip to Wales with mixed driving, when we had R19 weekend of the year. I will give it another go now. Well not right now but next time I drive it.
