Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

They say there's nothing wrong, and if I require them to investigate further (at great expense) they suggested removing the rear bumper to check for blockages/leaks in the air intake system.
Leading evidence: 'ignition coils' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'ignition coils' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check blockages/leaks in the air intake system' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I had a twin turbo skyline which also had a hesitation and that turned out to be spark plugs

Incidentally they charged me £80 for the check despite not mentioning that there would be any charge when I took it in.

As advised on the forum, I took it to my nearest OPC for a check over, as it is under warranty.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

@npilling - not sure if turbo's have an air mass sensor but maybe worth getting someone to have a look in this area if they do, these generally don't show on a diagnostic and gradually deteriorate over time, certainly on a normally asprated 996 you can disconnect the sensor then take it for a drive if the hesitation or flat spot goes away then you have identified the issue, the sensors are abot £150 and take about 5 mins to fit.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I posted a thread re this before Xmas. Problem is engine hesitation between 1500 and 2000rpm, most noticeable in 1st and 2nd gear. I've only had the car a few weeks so wasn't sure if this was normal. I did find the hesitation disappear once after a good motorway run. The car has the X50 upgrade.
As advised on the forum, I took it to my nearest OPC for a check over, as it is under warranty. They couldn't find anything despite two test drives by different technicians and a computer diagnostic check. They say there's nothing wrong, and if I require them to investigate further (at great expense) they suggested removing the rear bumper to check for blockages/leaks in the air intake system. Incidentally they charged me £80 for the check despite not mentioning that there would be any charge when I took it in.
So where do I go from here? Live with it? Is it normal? Helpful advice required please.
personally i'd get it to a good diagnostic rolling road, and when they find something wrong, demand the money back from porsche...
sounds to me like a small vacuum leak...
Is it a hesitation or misfire?
my misfire started as a slight hesitation and then deteriorated to a misfire.
Turned out to be coils.
