I need to purchase a new key (just the electronic portion of the key) for my 2008 Cayman and I will be going to the local Porsche dealer for service to get the new FOB programmed to my car. Are there any additional options that can be set for the FOB? I'd really like it if the car beeped when I remotely lock it. It beeps when I try to lock it when the frunk or trunk is open. I'd like it to beep when I just lock the car too. Can anyone tell me if that is an option that I can ask for? I'd be interested in hearing about any other option too.

There is no "beep" option in 2008. And as far as I know, no other options either. There is an after market product that adds the kind of options you might consider (things like the "beep", opening windows, etc.) but I forget what it's called. Google can probably help.

Indeed you do.. a great addition to the 987 series. Especially the right mirror auto-tilt-down-in-reverse feature (use that all the time) With it installed - you get two beeps for successful locking. Three beeps for unsuccessful (a door or lid open) locking, and one beep on unlocking. Wonderful little addition to the car and fairly easy to install (easier than the instructions make it seem.. but they're excellent detailed instructions.)
