Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Car has been with OPC west London for just under 2 weeks, they replaced all the gearbox bearings, found a leaky oil pump and whilst the transmission was dropped I had the clutch replaced on their advice (it was getting heavy).

It's not rev related as when I engage the clutch and change revs it's consistant with speed.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi,
Ok, another question/ problem....
I'm getting a noise whilst driving coming from either the wheels or drive train/ transmission. The only way I can describe it is like the sound of a Pod Racer in Star Wars, kind of a rhythmic hollow warble and located in the back half somewhere. It's not rev related as when I engage the clutch and change revs it's consistant with speed. When I drive with the window open I can't hear it from outside. Only with windows closed and radio off but it is loud enough to concern me. It didn't do this a month or so ago so getting worried... Thought it may be cold tyres but even after an hour drive it's still there.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Stuart
possibly the beginning of failing wheel bearings... mine sounded like that too... swerve from left to right at speed and you may notice the sound is louder going one way than the other...
Update on the noise:
Car has been with OPC west London for just under 2 weeks, they replaced all the gearbox bearings, found a leaky oil pump and whilst the transmission was dropped I had the clutch replaced on their advice (it was getting heavy). Bearings and pump under warranty so cost me £500 for 1hour labour and clutch parts.
Anyway, lovely light clutch feel, no funny noises from the rear, perfect! Drove down the M4, onto M25, revs got to 4k in 4th then all hell broke loose! Engine went 'mental'... It was as if the clutch had been engaged whilst I was still reving, no power at all just alot of engine noise
Turned around and went straight back to OPC. Parked up and got out, what a heart wrenching smell! Tech guy came out, smelt it, looked under car, there's a pool of oil forming on the tarmac. A seal had blown! All credit to the OPC, just one of those things, their going to fix ASAP but not a good way to start 2008...
Sorry to hear your news Stuart, bad luck. Hope all is well soon.
The K & N arrived Im happy to say and looking for a window to fit it. Very many thanks indeed. It is in very good condition and seems a reasonable straightforward fit.
Could you perhaps let me know the postage costs and your address by email so I can reimburse you with a little extra for your trouble.
Cheers
Andrew
