I removed the new ones on my Caterham 7 and fitted custom Nitrons which were much better although expensive.

I removed bilstiens from a bmw coupe and fitted koni sports which were were big improvement also.

BC inserts last 30-70k miles depending on usage, you can compensate with the **** as they age or just get the inserts replaced for $100/corner.

Suggestion
Even Nitron divorces the lower mount though I don't think they intend you to adjust height down below.

Suggestion
The only thing I don’t like about them is that if you need to adjust the rear ride height you need to remove the lower mounting bolt, remove the sway bar link and rotate the lower body to adjust the length.

Ceika coil overs do come with new mounting assemblies for all corners so you just remove the three nuts at the top of each strut and install the coil over assembly and replace the three nuts.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've been seeing a lot about BC Racing coilovers and was wondering if anyone has any experience with them on the 996 gen cars? I have a C4S and will probably go with coilovers at some point when my current suspension wears out. I won't be tracking this car, so I don't see a need for the ultra-high performance units, but I don't want to buy something that I'll regret later. So... anyone have these on their car?
Thanks
Just installed them this past weekend. Other than the ride height is now where i want it. I see/feel nothing any different. The ride is exactly how it was before. Maybe a little tighter. Install was a breeze. The only thing to know is they do not come with new upper mounts for the front so you either need to buy new OE ones or aftermarket unless yours are in good shape. Quality of the product is great. My research found these are big on the BMW forums. I didn't want to pay the Porsche tax for other high dollar names and feel that i didn't compromise at all. I too will not be tacking my car (at least that is the plan) o.k. maybe once or twice.
I really like my Feal coilovers and they're not expensive.
They're adjustable for dampening, which is great for a daily driver.
They're height adjustable which allows you to decide which height you want.
Mine are at the maximum height due to excessively tall speed bumps that were recently added to our parking area at work.
For those who are not familiar with these coilovers below is the actual link to them. They are completely adjustable for height and dampening. I purchased mine directly from BC Racing since i live only a few miles from them. However you can find them on Amazon for $1150 to $1250 with free shipping. I also had to argue with some of the employees as they first tried to say these are only available for the turbo model and will not work on the C4S. After a few calls the realized i was correct (not to mention their own website agreed with me). They are also pictured exactly like the kit comes.

No. I left them just as the came out of the box (8 clicks from fully hard). On road they feel no different. My wife says it feels a little more bumpy at parking lot speeds but i dont feel it. Monday i will be installing a few more suspension items. At that time i am going to put them right in the middle of soft and hard and see if i feel the difference.
BC is fairly well respected, a lot of people I know have air ride with them and as other said they're big in the BMW world. I bought a set of Ceika coil overs for my boxster (likely made in the same place as BC) and have been happy. Ceika offered more options on spring rates, valves, and dual coil setups.
Good luck
Shawn
if your asking how many coilovers come in 1 kit. The answer is enough to do 1 car (all 4 corners). Click the link further above in one of my post and you will see what actually comes in the kit for the AWD 996. It is the actual product and not a generic photo.
As a dedicated street car needing a suspension soon, I'm consider coil overs. I want to lower it at least 3/4 to an inch but don't want to loose to much comfort. Keep us posted on how they feel over time.
My lad has just bought a set for his E36 bmw. Look well made in a none bling finish way.
My 996.2 is still on original suspension and pretty harsh over poor roads. I was thinking about Koni sport adjustables as had those on a few cars and found them to improve ride and handling. Question on those though would be to go with standard or lower springs as no platform adjustment.
question is are the BC as good in damping terms and how do the spring rates compare.
I have three sets of Ceika coilovers on my NA cars. I have been very pleased with them. I usually run them at 22clicks from full soft (30 clicks available). Ceika coil overs do come with new mounting assemblies for all corners so you just remove the three nuts at the top of each strut and install the coil over assembly and replace the three nuts. The only thing I don’t like about them is that if you need to adjust the rear ride height you need to remove the lower mounting bolt, remove the sway bar link and rotate the lower body to adjust the length. The last set I purchased direct from Ceika in Jan 24 was $1190.
Good luck with your project.

I like Konis out of the box, if you're not a suspension tweaker it's low effort for good results. The Yellow sports are a little annoying because the adjuster's not consistent, but you can tune them the same way as you would coilovers (or get someone with a shock dyno to do it properly for you). BC's being highly adjustable is both the best part and the biggest risk, most people are just guessing, don't science it out fully, and that produces trash results. I haven't set up a 911 on BC's yet but with BMW's here's the 80/20 rule:
Order bog-standard BC's with no options (except maybe the extended rear adjusters)
Turn down the damping to 1/3 of the way from full soft
Replace original springs with Swift 65mm springs, same length and 2-4kg/mm stiffer than BC's original springs
Set spring preload to zero before setting ride height
If the car pogos (turn-in and/or exit, check both L and R), turn up the rebound adjustment 2 clicks at a time until it stops. Chassis control at that point is good enough for track work, impact damping will be firm but still nowhere as harsh as Bilstein B6/B8. BC inserts last 30-70k miles depending on usage, you can compensate with the **** as they age or just get the inserts replaced for $100/corner.
A very high percentage of these fly-by-night companies (MeisterR, etc) are just buying parts from Borr Chuan with different anodizing. The colors may be different but you can't hide the identical machining and shape of the lower cup. Any coilover with an adjustable lower is going to be a compromise in overall travel and performance. BC is basically well respected by the same people who would have never even heard of Tractive/AST/Moton/Penske/etc when talking about suspension.
The divorced damper insert and mount bracket is just a manufacturing technique - I don't think there's any physical reason you can't put good valving in a BC tube (certain Bilstein valves and shims actually fit). Even Nitron divorces the lower mount though I don't think they intend you to adjust height down below.
Pic stolen from another forum.
So the BC's for the E36 came with top camber plates and new tie rods.
This the same as the sets they list for the 996?
you remove the old front top mounts and just bolt the BS unit straight on?
i think they list the springs as 4kg front and 7kg rear. In use does this give a bit less roll but depending on damping adjustment a better ride over bumps?
My original dampers are probably past their best at 20 years and 60k miles but I find bilstiens are not good on poor surfaces.
I removed the new ones on my Caterham 7 and fitted custom Nitrons which were much better although expensive.
I removed bilstiens from a bmw coupe and fitted koni sports which were were big improvement also.
My 996 is not quite a daily driver but not a Sunday car either so do not want to spend big on replacements.
You usually get camber plates for the front, and sometimes sway bar endlinks. I've never seen new tierods with a BC kit, your alignment shouldn't be
that
far off just lowering the car an inch or two. BC units should replace the OEM strut/spring/top hat assembly.
