This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi all, As the title suggests, I'm looking for recommendations on taillights for my 987.1 Cayman S . Is the 987.2 LED unit a direct fit, or do I need to resort to aftermarket solutions? I love the way the car looks but the eyebrow is the one thing I feel that dates the car or gives away its age - the car is timeless otherwise. If I do go aftermarket, are there any options for sequential taillights? (turn signals like an Audi or the S550 mustang ) Cheers.

POST 2Original post

A 987.2 taillight will not fit the 987.1 Cayman (ditto on Boxster ).. I know there are LED options available for the 987.1 - some tasteful, some gimmicky.. a Google should turn them up.

POST 3Original post

I’ve seen a few okay LEDs . I would say we want to stay away from a jdm sort vibe, but I agree the bicycle red reflector capsules are dated a little. The only thing I like about them, they look like Carrera GT tails… my solution was tinting them (super easy)I used 15% and 30% and did a two stage. It also helps the fender line look more like it goes from door to rear bumper… they look black in this photo but outside there a dim red not sure but I wonder if .2’s would work if you had the .2 bumper. Is the rear fender meet up difference too?

POST 4Original post

I have a drivers side tinted aftermarket tail light and a broken passenger side light (was like this when I bought the car). Sell em to you cheap

POST 6Original post

Thanks, that's the info I was looking for. I agree with most being gimmicky. I defer to the kind folks here for recommendations on ones that are not gimmicky.

POST 7Original post

Thanks for the input. I like the way these look, but I do want to stay away from the JDM vibe. I was considering buying the Euro kit from Suncoast (eyebrow is also red), but I don't want to commit to a $550 mod that I may not be in love with.
