Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It's engine has blown up previously (well, I guess that's why it's been replaced) and the change of the front, might be because it's had a prang.

I would love a lobster wheel set for my 996, but wouldn't do it for this reason.

If however you stick with the same width and use spacers and longer bolts to return the track to standard I couldn't see a reason for a problem.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Looking for a 997, searched using 997 as a keyword my eye caught £32K shortly followed by 3.4 and 1998! Strange looking car - surely a 996 C2 of this age can't be worth this kind of money....?

It's a 996 with a 997 panels at the front. It still has the 996 original panels at the back and has a body kit. You can see further proof from the interior (996) and the side mirrors (997 has split mirrors), but it does have 997 wheels (which shouldn't be fitted to the 996 btw).
It's engine has blown up previously (well, I guess that's why it's been replaced) and the change of the front, might be because it's had a prang.
That's a lot of money to ask for what is essentially a very early 996, that's had it's engine replaced and potential smash at the front.
robin, they suit your wide bodied 996 perfectly
and for a wide bodied car they should be a straight swap
but you can fit 997 wheels to a 996
boxster is different
> but you can fit 997 wheels to a 996
The offsets are specified as different in the owners manual and Porsche say you shouldn't do it. The Boxster/Cayman are again different, but by a higher margin.
I personally wouldn't be comfortable pushing my car to the limit, unless it had OEM approved parts on it.
They physically fit and you can fit spacers/shims to bring them to within the ET specification, but they are different for a reason.

Sorry, to be clear, I've only researched the narrow bodies cars, I have no idea about the wide bodied ones.
The above ad is a narrow bodied car, with 997 wheels on it and they are different.
The only issue I can foresee would be if you increased the track of the vehicle and thus created extra load on the wheel bearings. If however you stick with the same width and use spacers and longer bolts to return the track to standard I couldn't see a reason for a problem.
