And I seem to recall people talking about replacing the wheel function controller module with a newer one from the era where the wheel you have was an option on the 987 or 981.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

'09 987.2 S I recently acquired. The car has a few mods on it from the previous owners, one being the Sport Design wheel. This week, I swapped out the awful PCM 3.0 to an Xtrons Android-based factory look unit (their top model offered). One big design flaw of this unit is the lack of physical volume controls and getting to the software volume controls is a multi-step process - I want to fix that. What is the most cost-effective swap to get a wheel with volume controls on it? I have the Foxwell NT530 , so I can do some coding with it, but not sure if it will do MF wheel enablement or not. I see the Macan wheel (plus airbag) is popular and I like it a lot (way more than the Sport Design wheel), but I'm very open to other ideas. I don't want to break the bank on a steering wheel.

POST 2Original post

Hi @Nitrousbird , welcome to Planet-9. Just a comment or two on your post and question. - does the Xtrons unit claim to support factory wheel controls? If so - it might simply be plug and play with a newer wheel, but in a few threads here - people have made mention of an interface device between the wheel and the wheel function controller. And I seem to recall people talking about replacing the wheel function controller module with a newer one from the era where the wheel you have was an option on the 987 or 981.
