Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

How long to wait for a drool inspiring gt4. Someone in Porsche Hq press a button which says 'yes' and put me out of my misery of waiting.
I know it's been posted before. I don't care.
This is a composite right? GT3 wheels from the 991 or is it going to have the same wheels? I can't imagine it will...
Striking looking vehicle though, exciting times for Porsche
Slightly different wheels to the Ring pictures but otherwise identical. My next car, that's my commitment to myself.

So no centre locks then. You're right it's a stunning car. Any idea when they are going to launch it or is that the point of the thread in the first place?
Fantastic looking car that would be if they make it, chuck the carrea S 3.8 lump in the back with 400bhp and make it weigh under 1300kg and that will be on my Xmas list.

They're making it. It's in testing right now.
It's not too dissimilar to the Techart kit. Large rear spoiler, lower front splitter(I know these are a bit different) roughly the same ride height. I get mine back at the weekend with the kit fitted and I have also had the front air outlet fitted to the bumper. I don't have any wheels to fit yet as I've not fully decided on the Techart ones yet but will photo shop the gt3 ones on to it
I have a letter in; OPC know nothing about the car though, just took the letter on the strength of my information, the sum total of which is basically the photo above and the link.

yes got my name down early this time, just in case it turns out to be amazing.
Lets hope it's limited numbers like the GT3.
3.8, 6 pots, 380bhp+, GT3 LCA's and sus fit for the road , or a set of ajustables (If Renault can put ohlins on a hot hatch ffs) sub 1300kg's
then I will take it, 4 pot turbo, 4 pot brakes and 350 BHp then nope. no matter how good it looks it needs to have the kit.
depends on the GT4 price and spec, it's odd no one has a Ruf here yet

What's not to like here

Spoke to my OPC nothing official yet, may not even happen but it does keep people talking about the brand..
I've sent a letter of intent just in case.....

Inline four turbo? That might be goof for a Volkswagen or Audi but not a Porsche IMHO

The rumor from Motor Trend puts pricing about on par with, say, a 991 Carrera 4S with the X51 PowerKit ($120,000 USD). If true, I expect we'll probably see the 3.8L in there as a swan-song for flat-sixes in the mid-engine cars.
Honestly though, the car to buy won't be the Cayman, it'll be the Boxster, especially if they go all Boxster Spyder on it. Sorry, but the Boxster Spyder just screams modern old-school race car more to me.
Spoke to an OPC last week who said he thought it would be based on the 991 non-S engine. I.e. 3.4 litre. Hope it has a little more than 350 bhp though. 380 would be nice.

Porsche are currently tuning it to ensure it doesn't go round a track quicker than a GT3....
That comment made me Lol.

Jack has just mentioned this over at the Cayman GTS thread.
Well, I had a good conversation with another OPC yesterday and the GT4 is confirmed as a definite future model. No details on full specification or delivery dates but I have had my letter of intent accepted and am either number 1 or 2 on their list so will definitely get a car.
Engine will be the 3.8 flat 6 from the 991 Carrera S with 400 bhp and less weight than a standard 981S.
Power to weight will be around 310 bhp per tonne compared with 290 for a 991 Carrera S and 330 for a 991 GT3.
Hopefully it will be epic.

Spy shots suggest twin turbo 450hp although I appreciate its pure speculation at this stage
I'm first on list for this when it comes out with my OPC. I'm really excited by it. I've heard minimum of 380bhp, which would be fine if it's NA and manual. Here's hoping! It will be mega bucks though, I reckon!

Hi JP hope that's not Porsche Guildford, as they have a deposit from me, lodged on the day the first spy photos appeared ?
No it's not Guildford - mine was also handed over the day of first spy pics

Hmm you gotta think it'll be PDK only after the 991 Gt3 no?

Sadly - I think it will be PDK-S only. Not sure whether that's a deal breaker or not at the moment.
it will be manual option no question.
the manual with sports plus is quite good,, I thought the auto blip would ruin it, but it works very well and can be turned on and off.
So I put money on there being a choice.
ravon said:
Presumably you are buying one to go fast, so why would you want to have a manual gear shift ??
Someone once said - It's not about how fast you go, its HOW you go fast.
Some people prefer a manual gearbox over PDK, its simple really.
As much as I would like the Cayman GT4 to be a manual, I fear it will be PDK only.

I've paid my deposit, no.2 on the list at my OPC, the waiting begins
Deposit? So have they officially aknowledged it and more to the point, have they got a price and spec?
No price or spec at my OPC. Just a letter of intent puts me at the front of the queue. Maybe I'll have to stump up a deposit once it's announced and interest increases but don't see the point now.
mad ferret said:
I think you'll find that a cash commitment does hold more water than a letter
My OPC told me that my letter of intent confirmed my place in the queue. A deposit would not put me or anyone else ahead of those with a letter on intent already in place.
Nope buying 2 porsche's from my OPC and having both serviced at my OPC stands for more.
They will ask for money when the cars real, no one will be que jumping., thats just under hand., as is your OPC for taking money off you.
Most could call that a bribe lol

I think different OPCs have different policies, so some may well put a cash commitment ahead of a letter but I agree with Mr D on this one. LOI is sufficient to ensure your place in the queue and so it should be - they're not banks after all and nothing has been announced officially. However, you are likely to go to the top of the queue once it is announced as those with LOIs in place (but no deposit) probably have a week or two to actually stump up the deposit before losing their place and inevitably, some won't commit for various reasons.
Strange that so many people are putting down LOI on a car about which we KNOW almost literally nothing. It could be the worst Cayman ever or the best.
It would be a pile of crap if it had the following:-
(1) A turbo 4 pot.
(2) A kerb weight of around 1350kg.
(3) PDK only.
I think that is at least as likely as it having the 3.8 (or the 3.4 in a higher state of tune), being lightweight and having a manual option.
Why would Porsche not make it PDK only having done so with the GT3? I suppose one difference might be that it will sell in higher numbers, but is that likely?
garyhun said:
Plain and simple - no LOI = no early car.
If you want to get a car early you have to speculate a little. An LOI costa nothing, so why wouldn't you?
Fair point. I am just not sure it is remotely meaningful. It isn't really a letter of intent. It's a letter of "well-I-might-want-it-depending-on-what-it-is".
But if the OPC accepts those, that's its business.
Obviously all gravy to you!
