Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Several days later I checked for codes and the mirror codes were cleared!
Leading evidence: 'Check codes and the mirror codes were cleared' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check codes and the mirror codes were cleared' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

So I disconnected the battery (overnight) and when I reconnected it the new error codes (#25 & #27) were cleared but I still had the original codes.

I have a 2000 996.1 C4 Cabriolet 6-speed and have just replaced the pass.

When it came I installed it and everything tested good (new switch operation and the memory controls).

Prior to the repair the mirror would not adjust and I had two Seat Memory error codes: "22 Potentiometer right mirror Open circuit vertical" and "20 Potentiometer right mirror Open circuit horizontal".
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a 2000 996.1 C4 Cabriolet 6-speed and have just replaced the pass. side door mirror wiring harness (broken 15-pin connector). Prior to the repair the mirror would not adjust and I had two Seat Memory error codes: "22 Potentiometer right mirror Open circuit vertical" and "20 Potentiometer right mirror Open circuit horizontal". After replacing the bad wiring harness the mirror controls and the memory seem to work fine. However, I cannot get the two error codes to clear using my Durometric scan system. I tried with the ignition on and engine not running as well as with the engine running. The two codes just come back. There are no other error codes. I'm not sure what to do next. Suggestions anyone?
Sometimes Durametric doesn't do well with codes. I would disconnect the negative lead on the battery for about an hour, then re-attach and see if the error codes are still there.
I tried disconnecting the battery for 1+ hours and still had the two mirror codes. I tried clearing the codes both with the engine running and without. No luck. Any other suggestions?
None. First re-check your work (always go back to the last thing you did). This might require a trip to a dealer or indy that has the Porsche PIWIS and can dig deep. Good luck...
Here's what I'd do:
1. disconnect negative terminal on the car's battery
2. unbolt seat
3. tilt seat back to reveal the memory seat module
4. one at a time - unplug and clean the terminals using CRC electronic cleaner, and then reseat
5. make sure ALL connectors are seated properly!
6. bolt seat to the car
7. Unplug the mirror adjustment door switch and clean terminals with CRC electronic cleaner and reconnect.
8. Again, make sure the plug is seated properly BEFORE reassembly
9. Plug the negative terminal back on the battery
10. Start the car and test memory and mirror functions
11. Reset DTCs using the Durametric
Good luck!
Here's an update. I did the above connector cleaning procedure with CNC. All connectors looked good and seated fully. I then tested mirrors and discovered a faulty mirror adjustment switch (intermittent operation). So I ordered a replacement switch from eBay. When it came I installed it and everything tested good (new switch operation and the memory controls). I connected the Durametric and found four mirror codes, the original two "pot open" (#20 & #22) and two new ones "pot shorted" (#25 & #27). So I disconnected the battery (overnight) and when I reconnected it the new error codes (#25 & #27) were cleared but I still had the original codes. This just doesn't make any sense to me. I studied the mirror wiring diagram and I cannot see how the circuit can control the mirrors correctly and still detect the error codes. Possibly the seat/mirror control module M537 is bad. If I cannot find the problem and clear the two codes I will probably just live with it. Any suggestions?
After doing the battery disconnect procedure and having two remaking codes I just buttoned it up and drove the car. Several days later I checked for codes and the mirror codes were cleared!
So all is well now. Thanks everyone for the help.
