I had the car checked out and replaced the cap to an 04 and also the expansion tank as a preventative thing.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I have been tracking my C4S for the last 5 years. It has a 3.8 FSI stage II engine. Recently, I have been chasing a coolant issue. While I was sitting behind my car an hour after a session, I heard the car release some air. I figured it may have been some air in the coolant system and believed that to be normal. I had the car checked out and replaced the cap to an 04 and also the expansion tank as a preventative thing. Recently at CMP, I had steam coming from my engine after my first session and there was coolant in the cap. There was some coolant residue in the engine bay so I called it quits for the day. The coolant level was at the max line. About two hours after I heard some gurgling and a small puddle of coolant was deposited on the ground. I have had the coolant system pressure tested and all in spec. The temp gauge never gets higher than 200 and this only happens after a track session. I recently also had the radiators replaced. My mechanic is stumped. Any thoughts on next steps? See pics. Residue in cap Coolant on ground Looking up

POST 3Original post

You might want to put in a trouble ticket with FSI. Please let us know what they tell you.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the suggestions. I will open a ticket with FSI and report back. Mark

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So good news as there were no combustion gasses in the coolant. The thermostat wasnt running up to spec so that is getting replaced. Also a new water pump as it was time. Looking at adding a third radiator for good measure. Next track event is a one day event local to me in three weeks so it will get a full shakedown and test. Appreciate the suggestions.
