Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've got SC in my 981BS and I've got a DSC controller fitted too

Suggestion
"Using the DSC controller will avoid any error codes with the engine mounts and set to 1mA output current across the range means it's not really doing anything other than prevent errors."

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
22 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.
0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

I've had the dreaded PADM fault pop up and have been waiting 3 weeks for the part via a Porsche specialist to turn up, however it is STILL on back order. Is anyone else experiencing an issue getting hold of this part via a OPC or Specialist? I've got a road trip planned in a couple of weeks and really want it sorted before I go despite knowing that the car can be driven with this fault present.

Yeah could do, but I'd rather keep it OEM despite knowing the gains are VERY marginal
Do the replacements last any longer? Have they been modified?

I haven't heard about any replacements breaking. Maybe they have upgraded the part.

Yes modified parts were introduced about 18 months ago - I had them fitted to my 718 Spyder

Why not standard mounts and code out the fault?
You can't code it out, that's the problem and people have tried for years with no success. Given the way they work an electrical signal energises the magnetic particles in the fluid. They receive varying signals depending on how much the mount needs to firm up based on driving style. Because it's not constant you can't isolate it and it will throw a fault.
The small PCB on top of the mount fails, usually water ingress. There is somebody in China who has replicated the PCB and new casing but it's not widely available yet.
Perhaps I was lucky in 91k miles in my 2016 718 Boxster it was still on the original PADM with no record warranty or otherwise of them every being changed.
It's perhaps no surprise that these mounts are made by that trusted UK bastion of engineering excellence - Lucas

Wow, these are such a massive PITA!
A chap uses the DSC controller to avoid codes:-

HTH,

Thought they were made by Delphi (spinout from GM). Lucas Diesel is part of this group .. but don't do engine mounts.

You could be right but the point is this part has been known to be an issue for 10+ yrs and so far despite several 'revisions' of the mount it's still failing at varying points in time. Time to go back to the drawing board. Innovative idea poorly executed.

Completely agree. I read on their 8th revision.
Just called my OPC and 991.1 mounts are on back order so it is different for each model. Been waiting for a month now which is surprising because you would've thought they'd have had a big stock if they're that unreliable as a part
I've had both of mine replaced on my GT4 within 12 months, first one went within a month or two of collecting the car and the part took around 3 months to come into stock, the second one failed when in for a service (luckily I guess) and they had the part within a week or two.
As I understand the part has been redesigned over the years, god knows how many versions have been developed at least 5 from memory, but none seem to ultimately fix the issue.
Now, if you have the car on finance with Porsche (VW finance) I would raise this with them that you have a fault and raise hell with them. I did this and got somewhere in the region of £1500 reduced off my payments for my experience. I think a few have done this over the years.
Good news! The part is due in to the Specialist at the end of May and will be fitted first week of June! A long wait for a part that is known to fail but hey ho, at least I'm close to getting it sorted.
