Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Wondering if anyone has experienced a clicking noise, possibly a noisy spring as the brake pedal is depressed. Is this normal? Has anyone had the dealer do anything about it? It happens to me fairly often, and not always in the same spot, and also different degrees of "loudness." By they way I have a tip in case it matters. Just wondering what your experiences are...

POST 2Original post

I have that with my clutch pedal, I will have to pay attention to the brake, but haven't noticed any clicking there. Russ

POST 3Original post

I also have it on the clutch pedal. A springy sound. Not on the brake pedal though. Jack

POST 4Original post

I too have the clicking clutch pedal. Has anyone done anything about it yet?

POST 6Original post

brake pedal! not clutch, throttle, bass or wah wah pedals! Haha, just kidding. I guess i'm the only one

POST 7Original post

Mine has the click at the top of the clutch pedal too... ie when you first start to depress the pedal. Just a guess, but I think it's a switch to release the cruise control as soon as the clutch is touched. Brake pedals also have switches for brake lights and cruise control release. I think these switches produce the clicking.

POST 8Original post

My brake pedal has a bit of a sticky feel after I havn't depressed it for a while, just for a split instant, then works fine. I can't hear a click, but wonder if it is similar. I had it checked out during a tech inspection for the track and the verdict was no problem, don't know what it might be. So I am ignoring it. Does your situation seem in anyway similar?

POST 9Original post

I have this effect as well. Just as I start to press the brake pedal it feels 'sticky' for a fraction of a second.

POST 10Original post

Could it be brake light relay Haven't heard this sound in my Cayman, but in my A4 I used to purposely drag the brake so I didn't get rear ended as I downshifted. There used to be a notable 'click' when the relay for the brake lights was triggered. Was great, I never had to actually use the brakes, and I could get the lights to come on. Matt

POST 11Original post

I'm fairly certain it's a noisy spring. I just wanted to see if anyone else had this problem. Maybe I'll have the stealer check it out next time I go...
