About to have all four corners changed for Michelins, but only because 2 of the Potenza's are older than I'd be prepared to accept.

I have been using preloved tyres for a while and you can save a heap of cash but yes you must tread carefully, excuse the pun.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Do you think there's a market for pre-owned tyres? About to have all four corners changed for Michelins, but only because 2 of the Potenza's are older than I'd be prepared to accept. The car I bought covered nearly all of its mileage in the early part of its life, so although the tyres have almost full tread, they needed changing. It's being done this week, and I find it hard to just bin the old ones! They're Bridgestone Potenza N rated. 2 x 295/30/18 and 2 x 225/40/18. A front and rear from 2017 and then a front from 2008 and a rear from 2009. Worth sticking them on eBay for someone to wreck them on a track - or save myself the hassle and let the tyre shop dispose? It's not the money - it's that they seem like great tyres and I hate the wastage......

POST 3Original post

I've sold many of tyre on ebay, someone will use them. Just make sure you put the date codes on and air on the side if caution with the tread depths

POST 4Original post

I have been using preloved tyres for a while and you can save a heap of cash but yes you must tread carefully, excuse the pun. What I would say is that from what Ive seen it date is a big thing to look for, there may be heaps of tread left but the rubber degrades overtime, drys out etc. Therefore Id try sell them in single to be honest. The big date gap between the pairs wont help. Anything older than about 7 years is my limit.
