Picked up my 2006 CS as a left over 1st week in Jan.07. I love this car and can't drive it enough though limited due to weather conditions. My one complaint is that I have been back to the dealer 3 time for a check engine light. First off it's not the gas cap as I'm the only one to pump gas in any of my cars. The dealer says that in the Northeast that this is happening due to the ethanol content in our gas up here (Mass.). I don't buy the cheapest high test I can find and this has never happened with anyother car I've owned. This is the only issue that is DRIVING me crazy. Could anyone throw out some type of feedback to this issue, I like everyone at Clair Porsche but I really don't have the time to visit them approx. once a week. Also no noticable loss of power or any other problems when this happen, just
message to return to shop with !.
Your catalitic converters probably need to be replaced (under warranty) with an improved type. Your dealer should very well know this.
This is an interesting statement...do you know something you'd like to share with the rest of the class?
I would guess that he's referring to

It might be the CATs, as there's been a lot of folks had theirs replaced. It could be a lot of other things, too. Did they hook the car up to the PIWIS macning and read the error codes? If they didn't, they should. That would tell them what's going on. If it was really the gas you're using, then every Porsche owner in the NE would be seeing the CE light's too.

OK, My Cs was supposedly hooked up to PIWIS tester. The following is the best I can do to translate. ???
1st service
erform test with tester 9268. S10 misfire code, cleared default.
2nd service: Cause improper programing of DME ? Reprogrammed DME.
3rd Service: Used PIWS tester 9718 version 16.0. Fault codes P0300 to P0306
in the DME.
Now as of Friday 2/23/07 engine light on again. Can anyone translate for me, and am I getting the right service or just the run around.
Weird
P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0301 Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected
P0302 Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected
P0303 Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected
P0304 Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected
P0305 Cylinder 5 Misfire Detected
P0306 Cylinder 6 Misfire Detected
Sounds like the ECU needed to be reflashed?
chows4us,
What you wrote is exactly what the dealer gave me from a tech sheet that sasy it's for 911Carrera(997)/911Carrera S (997) as of 2005 up to 2006, dated 2/06 # 2825.
Thats because they are standard OBD-II DTC codes.
See
here
for a complete list. They are not unique to Porsche but standard across the industry.
You can pick up a scanner like
this
pretty cheap and read your own codes and reset them w/out going to the dealer. Most autozone stores will also read the codes for you free. Of course, thats not going to fix whatever the problem is
More germaine to your problem - ask your dealer if a lot of others are bringing in their cars with these trouble codes, because they're likely using the same gas you are... if they can't answer yes to that question, then they need to find out what's doing this and fix it. See if talking to the service manager helps. If they can't, then take it to another dealer if you can and have them diagnose it and fix it. It's likely your CATs or the mass airflow sensor, but it could be a lot of things.
