Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

Still getting used to performance features; it just surprised me cause it felt like the tip placed the gear into neutral with the engine in high rev.

No unique explicit quoted action; no causal link assigned

POST 1Original post

When i gas it in second gear the rpm does not go up smoothly.. I mean when it reaches 3,000 it kinds stays there longer then continues... does this happen to anyone out there?

POST 2Original post

I had kind of the same thing happened. I was running 55-60 mph & need to speed-up quickly. Pushed on the gas pedal, and the RPM went up from about 3K to about 5K+. I eased-up on the gas quickly, but the RPM stayed high for several seconds before dropping down. Don't know if it's a problem, but it's on my list of questions for the dealer.

POST 3Original post

That's a feature of the tiptronic. When you go deep on the gas peda, the car downshifted to help you accellerate. When you lifted off, the car assumed you were going into a turn and therefore held the lower gear so that you would have power on tap as you exited the turn. When it saw that you didn't have intend to continue accellerating, it upshifted. This comes as a surprise to drivers who have driven conventional automatics that always go to the highest possible gear immediately after one takes their foot off the gas. - Suneet

You might check this link out, possible coincidence, possible answer... I don't have a tip, but this might help answer your issue. http://www.planet-9.com/showthread.php?t=4487

POST 5Original post

The one thing I have noticed on my Tip is that the transition from 2nd to 3rd gear is kinda rough. I mentioned this when I brought the car in but they said it's normal. I find this difficult to believe.

Suneet, Thanks! Still getting used to performance features; it just surprised me cause it felt like the tip placed the gear into neutral with the engine in high rev.
