Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've noticed the sound changing dramatically depending on whether I'm in an open area or a more enclosed area.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Not really a complaint as much as an observation...but I have noticed that FM stations dont come through as clear as they did in my Audi or my wifes Nissan. The range seems to be shorter too. I know.....i didnt buy the car to listen to FM radio. Like i said just an observation. I usually listen to a CD and hopefully in the future my ipod, once denison gets their icelink done. I only listen to FM in the morning on my way to work...johnboy and billy. after 10 years i think i am officially a ******* now.
I have the base radio and no problems here, I can get FM stations from 60 plus miles away, then again, I live where the world is flat and folk holler from county to county...
Picking up FM stations has all to do with the size and orientation of the antenna. No doubt the Cayman has a smaller antenna, one that is positioned at a different angle than does a sedan.
Reception is not good on mine either. My CayenneS was the same. My 993 was pretty good. My 944 was excellent. Kaiser- the radio can be quirky - it turned on one day when I got into the car. I had various anomolies in my CayenneS over 3 years. Looks like the Cayman could be the same...
You know...Iagree. My FM stations are not as strong as my TL. Neither has an external antenna. The same station in both cars will crackle sooner/more in the Cayman.
Oh, well....
It seems to be the consensus here. Mine doesn't have very good reception either but man when a CD is in the thing it sounds damn good. A helluva lot better than my '02 M3 I had.I suppose Bose makes many different levels of car audio systems because I find the one in my Cayman S a helluva lot better (in terms of sound) than the one in the C6 Vette. Anybody know this to be fact?
Not sure about you guys stateside, but I'm sure that when I ordered I was given the option of a better external ariel for FM reception - did anyone else see this?
I agree the reception is poorer than my previous Audi, but only slightly.
yeah, an external antenna just aint worth the loss of the esthetics. glad im not the only one with this problem though.
anyone install sat. radio? if i traveled more i think i would look into it.
I’ve got the same weak reception issue so, I brought my Cayman into the dealer a couple of weeks ago to address this issue and they stated that there is radio antenna amplifier but there is no adjustment for it. They also told me “they all do it”. The frustrating thing is the cheap Chevy Impala they stuck me with as a loaner had crystal clear reception!
So digging around for a radio antenna booster, I came upon PCA Scott Slauson’s reply to a question that stated, “The radio's in the 987's and 997's are adjustable for sensitivity and can do this if out of adjustment. They will also do this if the station is so weak that it can’t specifically lock into it. You would have to bring it to your local Dealer for adjustment and or replacement. PCNA will usually require that they be check first on these parameters before being replaced.”
Does anyone here have any specific information as to where this sensitivity adjustment can be found? As I’ve already brought it to one dealer, what do you guys suggest on taking this issue up to the next level. Please no “mines fine” or “mine does the same responses”.
Thanks,
-Stevie
Where is the antenna for the radio located on the Cayman? On my A4, the radio antenna was built into the read windshield since it didn't have an external one. One of the problems with this was metallic tint on the rear windshield would effect the radio
. I was wondering if the Cayman was the same.
i have bad reception in the garage, when i get out it gets better but i also get a lot of static from time to time.. for sure the cayman doesnt have the best reception
I've noticed the sound changing dramatically depending on whether I'm in an open area or a more enclosed area. I wonder if the Nav-equipped cars experience this with their diversity antennas.
