I kept checking their site and the trader etc for it though.

It's a personal thing, and I'm not sure that it compromises the ride using 19's.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Looks the absolute dogs danglies but at turbo money. No doubt it will be properly sorted but its still 70 bhp down on a turbo and less reliable ultimately or will it have a Hartech style fix for the IMS issues?
They might even want my 944 but sadly not at a price I'd let it go for I imagine.
Sorry, but it is silly money for a 1998 car IMO. Basically, it would be a £10-12k car without the mods, and what has been done doesn't add £12-13k to the value. I don't like the wheels either.
Strange this should come up, I've been watching that car for a while.
They originally had the same car up for 19k aprox 12 months ago, it then, was priced to include a rebuilt motor of the customers spec, but it vanished and I have been looking for it since.
Roll on another year and looking at RPM's site on a regular basis it popped up a couple of weeks back, now 25k with a rebuilt motor. Sounds a little odd, but I can only think they kept it and are now trying to sell again with a similar deal.
I actually love the 996.1 shape (996.1 GT3 is my all time fav car). I would actually pay that money for that motor, and had considered taking a look at it when I saw it come up again. Considering a 996.1 GT3 can cost up to 40k with 100k on the clock, a sweet looking 996 in that colour with upgraded brakes and a fully rebuilt better spec motor for 25k is a good prospect. If it were 20k, I would say it was a potential bargain tbh.
P.S love the wheels on it
Each to their own and all.
Also it may be down on power, but don't forget a 1998 C2 will be a few hundred kilos lighter than a turbo. All in all, with a sorted block, brakes and suspension that could be an absolute killer tbh.
Seems a bit odd - 19K included the engine and now its 25K? Has it had anything else done in the mean time do you think?
I love the colour and the wheels and I imagine it goes pretty well. I'd want a pretty cast iron warrantee mind.
You are right, this is the thing that worries me spending such a large amount of cash because of a rebuilt spec, it will never match the length of the manufacturers warranty. Most of the well know places that rebuild the motors offer a very limited warranty on their motors, I doubt there is anything significantly different in the way the block on this car would be treated if an issue arose say 12 months after ownership. That said, it looks in fantastic condition for a 1998 car and has had some nice upgrades, so all being well it could be a good deal for anyone who likes the 996.1 GT3 look.
My thoughts when I initially saw the motor was that it needed an engine rebuild, was a customers car that they got cheap or was px'd into them, and instead of going through the hassle of rebuilding and trying to sell (only to have it stuck there) they advertised it at the price including a rebuilt motor.
I can't see that the spec or anything looks any different now to what it did when I first saw it.
I'm guessing it never sold for the money they wanted and they kept it there, but why they have added 5k to the price is beyond me.
Stranger things have happened. It is distinctly possible they felt the price was limiting it as it was being looked at along with 3.6 cars. Against these it is a better spec and you could argue a better car, more remedial work, respray (presumably) etc
So putting the price up may make it more desirable and more likely to sell as it is perceived as a better car.
Obviously the fact that you saw it before doesn't help!
Could be, could also be they need some more cash hehe.
at 19k I thought it was a very, very good prospect, I was tempted, it vanished shortly after though and I assumed it was sold. I kept checking their site and the trader etc for it though.
Perhaps it's fate I have seen it again? Lol.

Got to admit i like that as well. I remember seeing it for sale before as well but cant recall the price. A part of me would wonder why i didnt just put that money down and finance the gap for a nice GT3. Paul Stephens has a mint low mile mk1 CS for £42k so maybe a tad extreme saying 100kmilers are £40k. When i got back from Spa recently i seriously considered that red 944S2 as a track proposition. I think it was up for £7995 when i enquired and it needed some work. Few bits and bobs..but likely put it more in the 9k category once finished...which for me was too high given what a mint stock S2 would set you back at the moment (circa £5.5k). Some seriously tasty machines around at the moment at this price range.
I thought I recognised it. It was supercharged as Paul says. It was done by a chap called Stuart Grey at Gas4Cars in Milton Keynes. Known as "valdice" on 911UK, there are some photos of the car with the supercharger (and horrible Strosek light covers) here: http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?p=604243#604243
It has obviously sported the (pattern) Carrera S wheels for some time. The reason I'm not a fan is that I think the hubs are too chunky, and I don't like the way the spokes join the rim. It's a personal thing, and I'm not sure that it compromises the ride using 19's. People do it, so it is probably OK, but the 'old fart' in me says no.
I agree, the 19's aren't the best choice. RPM had the original engine out when I was buying my 996T from them more than 18 months ago, so they've had it a long time now. Will appeal to a very limited market for that money, but knowing RPM, should be well sorted now, including the IMS!
Surely common sense would have kicked in and they would have done the dreaded bearing long back before strapping a bloody supercharger to it?.
Nah, Probably not.
Thanks for finding the thread Richard, keeping OT of this car as this has turned up some interesting history on it.
The car is back up with a standard 3.4 lump, and looking a little 'tatty' this time round to be honest, not quite the immaculate pictures they were showing in the showroom (old pictures by the sounds of things).

Thought I'd drag this out again.
I'm sure this car is one of those in the new (October?!) edition of EVO that arrived yesterday. Group test with an SC and a 964RS.
Yes, the same car. They were about to remove the supercharger when I bought my 996t through them just on 3 years ago. Couldn't sell it with the sc on, but don't recall if they rebuilt/upgraded the engine now.
