Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Discussions that suspect a cause
1

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

But that's probably a route too far for the engineers to figure out.

Leading evidence: 'route too far' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'route too far' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Planet-9: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

3 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Hey Shawn, just tried it in the chat and it worked for me.

POST 1Original post

Here is a short video of how to get to this cable.

POST 3Original post

Hey Shawn, just tried it in the chat and it worked for me. Can email if you wish

POST 5Original post

That link is still not working for me on my phone. Here is a YouTube for a 981. Has anyone made that cable longer and perhaps more easily accessible (like let it poke out of the slats in the wheel well trim)? Shawn in VA (USA)

POST 6Original post

I'm interested to know if anyone has any luck relocating this to somewhere more accessible? I saw some info on people relocating it to the tow hook on 986 boxsters, but nothing for 987 models.

POST 7Original post

I’m thinking of added an extension with a bicycle brake/shift cable and leaving just the end hanging out of the wheel well louver slats. Crazy? Shawn in VA (USA)

POST 8Original post

It's only crazy if you park your car in deserted locations with the family jewels stored in the frunk, LOL. Otherwise the risk is all but non existent. I'd personally love one routed to the inside of the driver's door jam near the hinge. But that's probably a route too far for the engineers to figure out. To me it seems a couple strategically located pulleys and a longer cable should be doable.

POST 9Original post

Coincidentally, I just discovered this youtube video on making and routing your own cable. It's for a 997, but it seems to be something that's easily done for the 987 as well. It looks like he routes his to the fog light area.

POST 10Original post

Thanks for sharing. I may explore something like that if plan A doesn’t work out. Shawn in VA (USA)
