anyone own an I-carsoft scanner??
So today I took the car for a much needed wash. I really thoroughly cleaned the wheels (coil packs in the line of fire) and when I started up I got the check light. I disconnected the battery, got the PSM code erased and code did not come back. Anyone have this happen?? I’m assuming a miss fire code? I’ll get to the shop and plug it in.. idles/runs fine tho. The plugs/coil-pks are right there so I’m just guessing here. I’m sure they need to be changed regardless
Are you using a spray wand at a wash bay? They have aggressive spray power. PSM = stability management not coil related. Maybe you wetted a wheel sensor? Who knows, wetting covered coils is unlikely IMO.. If you're going to use such a booth (assuming you did) be less aggressive, change the spray angles to be the most advantageous to panel cleaning while respecting all collateral system components. I like a hose and a deep Griots soap screen pail but I realize not everyone has that access.
I disconnected the battery, that’s why the PSM came on… no relation to coils..
I wasn’t aggressive, but yes I used a power washer at the car wash.. coincidentally I’ve owned this car for years and it’s the first time I’ve went to a power washer… anyway… just curious if anyone has experienced..
I have never had it happen on a
Porsche
but using the unbelievable powered ancient steam jenny my dad had would make almost every car not start if you just opened the hood and went wild so I've experienced wet related failures plenty. I learned fast to use the air hose afterwards. That thing did clean engines to perfection and if you were looking for an oil leak it was awesome.
I’ll plug this in… the quick reset worked, didn’t come back and it could be still stored in non-violation codes… whatever it was.. usually miss fire style codes will come back sooner than later
I had an evap code pop this summer, it never came back. The cold / heat cycles in my garage had loosened the cap somehow. Now I remember that every fill up like a trained monkey, make sure cap is tighter than usual, happy motoring! After all I did work for Esso.
I noticed the ! Central light was on when I just moved the car… now that’s gone too…
Am I correct in assuming you read a PSM code? Could be one of the wheel speed sensors may be cracked and shorts when it gets wet internally. Rather common on them (there is a service campaign on some Porsches for these..)
The "!" light is there to tell you there is a stored fault and you should go look at what it is..
Ya just a code reader/erase tool
I do not have wheel sensor option. The check light went away after I reset the battery. Then I had to reset The PSM because of the battery.. I went to move the car and noticed the !
I am going to look it up on scanner
