Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I have a pair of headlights that were on my 2006 Cayman S when I bought it recently. Shown in this picture. I did a restoration on the OUTSIDE and they look really good. I’ve had two professionals who Restore headlights confirm the issue is on the INSIDE. I sure would appreciate anyone who can give me some step by step instructions on 1). The best way to take the front lens off? Some have said that some seals are resistant to heat. My plan is to use my Heat Gun and place the headlights into a box to heat them up OR just run the Heat Gun around the edge of the seal. 2). What is the best way to determine which of the seals might be leaking inside the lens? 3). What is the best product and seal and technique to purchase to put back on and reseal the light so I don’t have this problem again? Thanks much for your advice. Jeff.

POST 2Original post

We seem to be missing the picture. I do know the Porsche lenses can't be removed by heating the light in an oven (as BMW ones can..) I believe you have to actually cut the seal all the way around with something like a razor knife. Use care doing it - we don't want to lose a new member due to a severed artery. And please visit New Member Introductions - and tell us all about you and your Cayman (pictures are wonderful, brag on it a bit..)

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
