Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

My car is at the OPC for some other work and I asked them to quickly check the fault codes and repair the problematic sensor (as I honestly believe it is a sensor not MAF or coil), as it happens when the car is in the exact same position)

ABS+PSM Failure

Reset error codes, datalog the ecu outputs etc

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Had a few (three in total in last 3 months) occassions of PSM failure! and ABS failure! appear on the OBC display in red . If I clear it, I have check! within the computer and the ABS and PSM lights remain red on the instrument cluster. If I stop, turn the ignition off and then back on again, the OBC beeps and then the faults clear (as if it's doing a self check and detecting no problem). The strange thing is that the failure has always appeared on the same stretch of road, turning left down from a steep hill down onto another very steep hill. My car is at the OPC for some other work and I asked them to quickly check the fault codes and repair the problematic sensor (as I honestly believe it is a sensor not MAF or coil), as it happens when the car is in the exact same position) They have checked the computer and it is reporting no faults at all. How can this be? If the OBC is reporting a fault, which is then cleared (it can't be cleared using the OBC stalk, only turning the ignition off/on), why isn't it remaining in the stored fault code list? I have no reason to doubt the OPC, but this doesn't sound right at all. When I pick up the car tomorrow, I'll ask to speak to the mechanic about it. Any one had this before please? Cheers, GD

POST 2Original post

every fault code shown will appear in their OPC PIWIS tester, as it's all time logged, so even if it's gone from you OBC if you're in range the next time it happens take it to JZM or RSJ

POST 3Original post

Not exactly true There might only be a history of 10 or so starts after that it's gone.

POST 4Original post

And hence why I've bought my own diagnostic tool Love toys.... Can read all the live engine info, reset all error codes, datalog the ecu outputs etc..... weeee, I'm in geek heaven....

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok, in which case that might explain it. The last one happened over a month ago. Where did you get the diag tester + cable from please?
