Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Replace evil: )' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace evil: )' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
When you start to improve intakes (air/fuel), exhausts, cats and cam timing then you can start to see more dramatic changes often to the detriment of emissions, reliability and the ability to use lower octane fuel.

The main reason I wouldnt do it is the compromise to reliability, also I wouldnt use the power but was just wondering what are the potentials.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just out of interest does anyone know the potential performance increase possible on the Carreras with remaps and other mods apart from being added on? Im not planning on doing this myself but just curious if 180 mph is possible with a remap and a bit of tinkering. Or a 0-60 time in sub 4.5 sec?
Hi Dejan,
180 is possible without a remap
and you're not too far off 4.5 0-60 as standard, although you might reduce the life of your clutch.
I have a Simtis map on my GT3 and the biggest increases are in the midrange, whereas before you might drop from 4th to 3rd you don't feel the need. The rev limit was raised so theorically the car should touch 200mph.

Hope this helps!
Thanks Damian. The main reason I wouldnt do it is the compromise to reliability, also I wouldnt use the power but was just wondering what are the potentials.
200 mph!!!!
Oh you've got to go to Germany and verify if it can be done.
There's a lot you can do and not impact reliability, an air-filter and exhaust with a complementary remap would radically improve performance. It when you start to mix and 'try to' match components that problems are likely to occur. There are many exhausts that do very little and in many cases can reduce the power, there are air-filter/box kits that can do the same. If you do go down this route look at packages that are tried and tested.
In theory 200mph, but there might be a few factors that conspire against me. I'll put some practice in on the M6 Toll.......again
You could always supercharge it but just don't expect the Porsche warranty to cover you... That will get you a hell of alot quicker to 60, and an empty wallet
Hi Dejan
I've uprated my 2003 Carrera 2 (See March Total 911 article pages 83-95).
Now many Forum members are sceptical about the power gains I achieved and that is their right. (I also dont care because I'm pleased with the result
) However I might end up with egg on my face if I go to the Dyno test day at Silverstone on March 29th 2008
.
However a Revo Techniks remap which has the advantage of being switchable (ie you can switch back to stock very easily and vica versa) and you also get the ability to decide on the throttle response you want is well worth a thought.
To this I added a Supersprint Exhaust System with tuned manifolds, 1/200 cell cats, and sport mufflers, and Turbo tips. On the intake side I added a Fabspeed Full and Cold Air Intake System - but whatever you do dont have an oiled fiter system. (Oiled fiters tend to contaminate the Air Mass Flow Sensor giving warning light issues as well as needing the MAFS to be cleaned or changed  )
Have a chat with Paul at the Porsche Shop, he provided good products, good service and good prices for me and I'm delighted with the cars new performance (and fuel economy!!!)
After another long missive  Best Regards Big Bob
Yep, its not the rev limiter that will hold you back but lack of power to do it. Every mph at those speeds costs good wack of power. On top of that, unfortunately I don't think the gear ratios are in your favour. You see, the further you try and go up the rev range the less power you're producing as you'll have fallen off the other side of the power curve....
From 186mph to 200mph I would expect to need around another 100hp. You've got such huge aero drag at those speeds.....
Just look at the supercars that go past 200mph and how much power they have......
Having now calculated it, I wasn't far off. You need 70 more HP. You need 450hp to achieve 200mph. Now that will be a real 200 not a speedo 200 which will be a long way out at that speed.....
This calc doesn't take into account the gearing as mentioned previously either....
Somehow, unless you fall off the side of a cliff, I just don't think you'll manage it....
looking forward to it, as variety is the spice of Porsche and Motoring !
rather you can have a smile on your face when we tell you the COST of squeezing the extra inches of power from the manthey powered GT3's
it may be top engineering but OH MY GOD how much ! :frustrated:
Your name is down for the Dyno :thumb:
