Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I had my MAF and pedal sensor changed in Germany (Stuttgart OPC) while I was visiting the factory, and it cost about €350 all in.

Suggestion
+1 for MAF sensor, disconnect the cable (while ignition is off) - go for a drive and see if it still does it, if not then you can be pretty sure its the sensor, they are about £150, and are housed in the air filter box assembly secured by 2 torcx screws, takes about 2 mins to remove and install a new one.
Leading evidence: 'Replace maf and pedal sensor' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Disconnect cable (while ignition is off) - go' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

JUST WONDERED IF ANYONE KNOWS WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE.
ON MY 2000 996 C2, WHEN I ACCELERATE UPTO AROUND 6000RPM THE DASH LIGHTS FOR THE PSM & ABS DECIDE TO COME ON!!!!!
IF I DON'T GET UPTO TO 6000RPM OR DONT ACCELERATE HARD THEY DON'T COME ON
DOES THIS MEAN THAT I AM DRIVING WITHOUT PSM & ABS WHEN THE DASH LIGHTS ARE ONE?
HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM OR KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT?
ALSO I DON'T KNOW IF THIS HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT BUT ON START UP IN THE MORNING THERE IS A WHINING NOISE LIKE ITS COMING FROM THE ALTERNATOR!
CHEERS IN ADVANCE
Alright... no need to shout
Common issue on 996 and it's almost certainly either a brake pedal switch that is u/s, and/or it is time for a new MAF sensor.
electronic throttle, ABS, PSM are all inter-related and if any part of the system is not working correctly ABS and PSM are switched off for safety reasons (hence the light) as they can't be relied upon to work at the right time in the right way!
Sorry didn't realise it was on caps lock :?
Have you any idea on costs for the switch & maf sensor, do they have to come from porsche or is there aftermarket products available ie. eurocarparts etc
cheers

I had my MAF and pedal sensor changed in Germany (Stuttgart OPC) while I was visiting the factory, and it cost about €350 all in. It will be much more expensive at a UK stealer (oops - I mean Dealer)
But I'm sure someone on here has done it themselves and will be along eventually..
The ABS light could also be down to something as simple as a wheel sensor although I`m not sure it would trigger the PSM. Best to get plugged into a diagnostic machine as the fault reading should show whats up and then you wont be spending blind !
Ady, slight long shot but have you fitted a new air filter to the car, particularly k&n type? Ive had the odd psm and abs warning when I turn the car on. Apparently the oil in the filter can sometimes react with the MAF sensor. Resolves once restarted and seems to be nothing to worry about (if this is the problem!).
had same problem drove me mad. Took switch off behind brake pedal, uncliped it and just sort of pushed it back together hasn't done it since!
will probably need replacing eventually!
