Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Hi - I'm probably opening a can of worms here but its not good practice to change pads alone as they will take time to bed in, especially longer on old discs - ??
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

good morning guys,
as i mentioned in the past i am heading of on thursday night for a drive with a few other cars to Val Thoren for snow boarding and along the way we are calling into the nurburgring for the saturday for a few hours lapping the 'ring'.
1. how long will a set of brake pads last about 2-3mm on both front and back?
2. i have aquired a small chip on my windscreen, as i am heading into a cold enviroment would i be better changing the windscreen of just leave it?
3. what checks should i carryout prior to the ring laps and also the overall journey?
4. if anyone can advise do we need to take snow chains for the mountain driving in france?
also any general advise would be appreciated prior to the trip, just had the car checked over at porsche belfast in a 111 point check prior to taking out an extended warrenty.

Re: Snow Chains. Agree completely with the response. Police will not allow you up the mountain without snow chains when the snow is heavy.
Also, recommend that you work out how to fit them before you leave. I know from bitter experience that you do not want to be trying this for the first time on the mountain, because you start to lose the feeling in your fingers very quickly (even with gloves on)!!!
Hi - I'm probably opening a can of worms here but its not good practice to change pads alone as they will take time to bed in, especially longer on old discs - ?? i'd be extra cautious if I were going to track the car with new brakes (pads and discs or just pads) full stop.
- Simon
Assuming you know you need to bed them in, I think the track is the best place to do it. A race pad requires speed that can't technically be achieved on the street ....
However, the ring is a touch long to come back in to let them cool after the bedding process so maybe the Ring shouldn't be used as the best example.
Another pointer. It is actually recommended to bed discs with old pads of the same compound of the new pads.
I will be changing all mine shortly. Discs first, then bed discs with old pads. Once I'm happy the discs are done I'll change the pads and bed them in..... Job done....
2-3mm left on your brake pads? Change em for new ones. Bedding them in takes one empty dual carriageway and about 4-5 acceleration/braking runs. Race pads or not.
Re snow chains... the best system is the Spikes Spider.

Alternatively, if it's only for emergency/occasional use, I'd deffo go with the Snow Sock...

Normal snow chains can and will damage your wheels.
