OPC have checked and they have said it's actually the steering lock which has failed, but are checking whether it's a warranty item or not.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I have a tiptroinc and the key wouldn't come out of the ignition barrel last night. I quickly popped it into my local OPC (they stayed open for me to drop it in, which was very much appreciated). It's a well documented problem and I thought it was just the connecting cable that had lose. OPC have checked and they have said it's actually the steering lock which has failed, but are checking whether it's a warranty item or not. Has anyone had this problem before and did you manage to successfully claim on warranty? The warranty section has this: Steering parts covered (steering gear, power-steering assemblies and hose, hydraulic pump) Electrics parts covered (....instrument cluster...) The horn, all electric motors, all pumps, all switches (functional defects only) and electronic control units for the following systems: ...central locking...) - But nothing specifically about a steering lock? I have a very nasty feeling that this isn't going to be covered!!!! :damn:

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No surprises! Not a warranty item.

POST 3Original post

GD Can you get the part number? I have a list of all part numbers covered under the warranty.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Dave, that's very handy! I'll find out the part and let you know.
