I use an anti-slip (kidigrip) mat, which stops the seat sliding about and protects the leather.

Suggestion

I have a Targa and even with the roof back, there's still enough headroom for the children (although wouldn't recommend having the roof back with the children in the back personally).

Suggestion

I think some people have actually managed to get these in the back, but personally I think you'll need to use the air bag disabler and fit this in the front.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, Is it possible to remove the rear seat (back rest and "bum" rest) in a 996? Went to a car seat retailer and they advised that car seats may fit better if the seat components could be removed. Wondering if anyone else has tried removing the seats for any reason. Cheers, Prav.

POST 2Original post

The bum bit is just held in with velcro - or it is on mine. Probably all you'd need for a child seat - the backs would be more involved involve undoing bolts - hopefully not necessary for a child seat.

POST 3Original post

Prav, why do you want to take out the rear seats? I am not sure legally where you would be if you had an accident with someone in the back after you had mod'd the seats. I have child seats fitted in the back of mine, without any need to remove any of the fabric. The only problem is that you are bit limited for choice.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Never thought of the legal side... better leave them alone! GD, what seats have you got in the back of yours if you don't mind me asking? What have you had to compromise in (if any) to get it in? (passenger leg room, head height, damage to leather, incredibly tight squeeze, comfort, etc).

POST 5Original post

Hi, no, not at all. I posted all the information here (and there's pictures on the last page) http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=33377&highlight=child+seat I use an anti-slip (kidigrip) mat, which stops the seat sliding about and protects the leather. The Porsche Prince seat is fine up to 3. You can then use the booster (from Kidicare). My daughter has just turned 2 and she still sits with her feet straight out (her legs aren't long enough to bend around the seat), but even with with this, a passenger can still easily sit in the front. The booster is behind my seat, as I sit quite far back (I'm 6ft). The only challenge is fitting a rear facing seat. I think some people have actually managed to get these in the back, but personally I think you'll need to use the air bag disabler and fit this in the front. PS Lots of headroom. I have a Targa and even with the roof back, there's still enough headroom for the children (although wouldn't recommend having the roof back with the children in the back personally). Cheers, GD
