I have had a full set of new tyres, so checked and double checked the balancing.

Also had a similar problem about a year ago and was brake disks, so replaced front disks and pads (they were quite badly corroded) yesterday.

I have it booked back in for a check but not for a couple of weeks.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Probably track rod end - had the same symptoms on mine and that cured it.
Hi,
looking for any ideas on this problem. Symptoms are like the wheels needs balancing. Get this feeling through the steering wheel from approx 40mph upwards and under braking at higher speeds. Vibration can be felt through car at higher speeds (80+). I have had a full set of new tyres, so checked and double checked the balancing. Also had a similar problem about a year ago and was brake disks, so replaced front disks and pads (they were quite badly corroded) yesterday. I have it booked back in for a check but not for a couple of weeks. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
I have a steering wobble at about 120 MPH, its quite annoying, how do you start diagnosing what it is to start with? Obviously I only get this when I'm on the track or autobahns
Hi Dean
Can you confirm what model you have? :?: I'm a member of a US :worship: Forum too and this is a not unusual discussion point.
If you know your wheel balance is good, then we are looking for another probably steering linkage problem to explain the vibration. Track rod ends are a good start to check. If you jack the front of the car up, get someone to hold the steering wheel :thumb: and then gripping each front wheel in turn see if if you can sense some play as you load the wheels against the steering column. If you feel some movement then it could be track rod ends, tierod play to the rack, rack to pinion backlash, wheelbearings etc. If no play check your Toe in/Toe out.
I'm interested in particular :food: if your car is a 4WD, because there could be other factors then to explore.
Hope this helps as a starter.

I just discovered I've got one of them too... OK up to about 115 (slight vibration), but gets quite alarming after that
<Wattie posting from Germany of course

Ditto, join my club. Mine was self inflicted though by running over the nasty rumble strips at the Rock....
It may however been the half tonne of rubber I had stuck around the tyres from the track...... cut a lot of it off, removed rubber that had managed to get inside the rim onto the weights!
I get a wobble over 150mph
, accompanied by unpleasant smells :? , sweating palms
, and soiled trousers  . But I dont think its anything to do with the car :thumb:
