This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

£8000? I know it's a '97 and 76k miles but £8000? :?

POST 2Original post

Something about the text... all generic second-hand car speak, not the language of an enthusiast looking to find a buyer for their p&j. Either a scam, or a misprint- £18k would be more like it, but still cheap. Were there any '97 996's? Though they came out in '98...

POST 3Original post

No contact number... looks rather suspicious. Ive emailed. Will let you know if he accepts money transfer..

POST 4Original post

[quote Were there any '97 996's? Though they came out in '98...[/quote] Mine was first registered in Feb 98 so would have been made in '97. probably a typo and should be £18k TB

POST 5Original post

My vote is that it's a scam... Those wheels are not standard (or cheap) yet don't get a mention, the rear spoiler appears to be missing, and I can't see any parking sensors in the front PU I also don't think there were any 1997 registered 996s, as there are a few 1998 993s around. All those that have emailed for info are now on a spammers database

POST 6Original post

it was a scam, a classic low price ad, iirc it's now been removed

POST 8Original post

So have you sent him the money yet? I expect you sent a much larger cheque and will ask him to pay the difference back in cash when you collect the car...

POST 9Original post

...I was thinking to sending something for the baby too!! Everytime I see an ad with just the email address, bells start to ring. Makes me wonder has anyone ever completed a large purchase, solely via email? (excl ebay)
