Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All, After being stuck on the M23 over the weekend, so a fair bit of stopping and starting, my clutch pedal has started to pop/click right at the top when I take my foot off it ? Having read a few posts on other forums it could be a quick lube fix or a full master cylinder replacement, any thoughts ? Also when looking around the pedal cluster I also noticed there is some side to side play in the pedal whereas the other two don't move at all. Thanks in advance, Adam.

POST 2Original post

Most likely culprit is the clutch booster spring, which could be a simple lube fix, or at worst a replacement. Not hugely expensive, at about £35+VAT, and 1.5 hours to fit.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Richard, will definitely give the lube a go and then try the spring. Do you think the lateral play in the clutch pedal is anything to worry about ?

POST 4Original post

I guess it could be the pedal bushes (shown in the diagram), but I would have thought that if one or both were gone then it would make the pedal wobbly, rather than side-to-side play. Maybe see if you can see the heads of the bushes are intact.
