opc gave me a full tank of fuel from the off, but seemingly after about 30miles the needle was indicating I'd used almost a quarter of a tank !

Only put 20 quid in because I wasnt that happy with the super unleaded I was using so didnt want to fill it with the stuff....
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

So following on from my thoughts of the fuel gauge misreading by dropping from full to three qtrs after only around 30miles, once the needle got to near empty and the light was on (range left was c20miles) I put in £20 of BP Ultimate, and when i turned on the ignition there was no change...
Drove my new x50 75miles to Paintshield on Sat... ok so I barely boosted the turbo's at all (didnt want any stonechips before getting there), but easily stayed with the flow of traffic, and having zero'd the average mpg on the computer at the outset, was pleasantly suprised to see an average at journey's end of 31mpg from mainly motorway and A roads.... and up until the last few miles when I hit twistier roads it was showng a 33mpg average  !!
Frankly I was amazed at how good this was.... altho the fuel guage still seems to have dropped a third, from full at the start of the journey, which doesnt sound right to me if I was averaging 30mpg+... anyway, i'll investigate once I've got through a couple tanks to figure out whether the guage is misreading...
I'd be interested to hear how many miles per tank other TT (esp x50 manual) drivers are getting...
dont get used to it! i have shares in shell now to try and get some cash back! best i have seen is 22mpg, less round town, but the a/c is rarley off.
cheers robin.
the fuel gauge does tend to dive down very quickly after a fill up, but then slows up. Don't make the mistake of not filling her up to the brim when you get fuel, the last half of the tankfull is averaged rather than measured and the system is only accurate when a full re fill is done. Something to do with the float only being in one half of the tank.
regular TT for me and average around 23mpg. Easily see late 20's on a run.
Interesting to hear about the fuel guage... I havent fuelled the car yet... opc gave me a full tank of fuel from the off, but seemingly after about 30miles the needle was indicating I'd used almost a quarter of a tank !
I'm certainly hoping it does slow down after half way otherwise ! Theoretically, on a 64litre tank, at an average of 20mpg the tank should be good for c280miles, but by the sound of it that doesnt exactly translate in practice...
My tt returns around 22 around town which is my daily commute... Had a trip to Silverstone last summer and to cornwall just after i picked up the car and got on average 30, mix of "sensible" and fast driving.... To be honest you cant have a car like this and worry about mpg though, its about having fun...to get things into context whether its 22 or 30 mpg OPC take the smile off your face with a service, warranty etc..... and all of a sudden buying a few more gallons of go go juice seems like a good deal.....

I'm not sure if this is related to the float being onlu in one tank, and to start with the other tank is filled, or if its a fault.... if anyone else has noticed this on their 911 pls say so !!
err.....what I said earlier. £20 quids worth will not register, fill the thing up.
Why are you only putting 20 quid in anyway, you only have to go to the petrol station again sooner?
Only put 20 quid in because I wasnt that happy with the super unleaded I was using so didnt want to fill it with the stuff.... will get back to V-power once its used....
That's pretty much what I get per tankful on mixed road driving with my StealthBomber... Light comes on around 250miles, but there's plenty left in the tank to fill up about 59L at around 265miles on the odo.
The most I ever got was 48mpg
In my defence, if any is possible, I was just curious to see what would be achievable when trying. This moment of mediocrity happened between Barnet and Potters Bar.
Err, you want me to leave?? But hold on a minute....... :bye:
Peter
northpole - 48mpg out of what... a 118d ?!!
x50 seems happy to give me low 30's on the mway, but the few miles stop start around london, without really booting it, have yielded under 15mpg !!
