Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Would you have any comments with regards to replacing the current sump plug with a magnetic plug

No, an oill change wouldn't normally be required for a clutch change.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This might be a silly question but here goes.
I had a new clutch fitted recently at my indie. To do this, would they have had to do an oil and filter change or am I way off track here. The only reason I ask is that i thought i would do an oil change tomorrow whilst Mobil 1 is on offer.
thanks
I think a magnetic plug is a useful thing to fit. The LN one gets good press. Better still if it incorporated a chip detector, but that's another story..........
Arrrrrgh! What should be the easiest job I have ever had to do is turning into a nightmare. Being clever, (so i thought!) and only eight miles from euro........ i thought getting parts for my oil change would be easy. I was specific around the oil filter being hengst, recommended. However didn't have 76 mmx14 flute oil filter removal tool. Didn't have Mobil 1 oil and didn't have sump plug washer. Left it till following weekend and got oil from Hal..... On 20% off, 10 litres. Thought the washer would be easy to find. No such luck. Decided then to order washer from euro........ Which arrived today. As the sun was shining I decided to get under the car as I see this as a 1 hour job allowing for the oil to drain. DISASTER... Went to put the 8mm Allen key in the sump plug and the plug is completely rounded. Wish I had took it to the garage now. lesson learnt is not to travel to euro........, just order online in advance However, have any of you techno wizards got any idea as to how I release this plug which I believe would have been tightened to 37 ft lbs. much appreciated.
Have you got any screw extractors? These look a bit like a backwards drill. There is also a tool that has 2 cutting faces which looks a bit like a counter borer. Or if your lucky you might be able to get a torx bit as they have a bit of a taper on them and in an electric drill might 'cut' in enough to loosen.
Sometimes a slightly bigger sized Torx key hammered in works but a screw extractor as mentioned above is probably your best bet initially. That and Visegrips on the outside of the sump plug turning anticlockwise at the same time.
Thanks for all the advice. Job now done. Lack of specialist tools meant I had to carefully chisel out a channel on the plug which I was then able to ease with some gentle tapping of a screwdriver in the slot. Messy business oil changes. However, nine litres of Mobil 1 0/40 now in its rightful place.
