I replaced for another open storage insert, even from an OPC was only about £15-£20.

I've got mine in the same place and use the becker unit's leather storage case to hide the ipod.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Really dont need or like the cd storage tray on the dash. I've seen an arctic silver surround and might consider one.
Has anyone else got any suggestions including replacement of this section with something more useful or aesthetically pleasing?
Might be open to the possibility of a swap for the right alternative.
Cheers
Andrew
I have two open 'buckets'/'trays' instead of any CD holder. I put my wallet etc in there and find them useful. I would like one of them to have a closeable lid so I could leave my ipod in there and it wouldnt be on display - anyone know if this exists?
Same thoughts here, that 4 cd tray is so dated. I replaced for another open storage insert, even from an OPC was only about £15-£20.
My iPod is permanently connected and trapped underneath between the console and the carpet, out of sight.
You're so right. Ask someone under 20 years old about CDs and you might as well try dancing in a nightclub. Basically they will look at you like you just did Life on Mars in reverse. Im not trying to 'cut it with the kids' but even I (at 36) think its like something from 1995.
Where did the additonal storage unit come from? And Im a sucker for arctic silver surrounds
here you go. Replacement CD tray and other odds and sods...
Part number for CD tray replacement (top cubby)

The other bit are part of the wheel arch extension on (at least the GT3) for wind deflection.... mine were both broken...
I've got mine in the same place and use the becker unit's leather storage case to hide the ipod. not perfect but if someon'es gonna break in they're gonna break in...
My ipod is hidden nicely away in the centre (armrest) console thingy.
However, I have been thinking that having a cubby hole rather than 4 cd slots that I don't use might be much more useful
Does one just clip / slide out and the other slide / clip in?
One sure does. Open all 4 CD trays, grab hold and pull. Then insert new tray using part mentioned above.
Final step is to walk to the bin, drop CD tray in the bin like I did....
